+Leo’s Special Day
Last weekend Leo, my 9 year old, went to Montana with his Dad to go on his first hunting trip. It was a total boys’ trip with his Dad,hi uncle George, his Grampa Pony and his Godfather Joe. Apparently Leo is a natural and got three rabbits and a quail, all of which he said were delicious. Now, mind you, it disturbs me that my boy loves hunting so much since hunting, in general, disturbs me. The thought of a little rabbit getting shot and killed by my 9 year upsets me a little but hunting is a big tradition on his Dad’s side of the family so I just have to kind of go with it. And it does seem to make Leo really happy so i will just have to put the cute little bunny rabbits out of my mind.
Anyway, when Leo got back I was down in San Diego for the tournament and on Thursday Ben got the kids back for his week. So I only got to see Leo on Thursday night and hadn’t seen him for the week before. So on Saturday Ben dropped Leo off to me, and only Leo, and we got to spend a special day together with no other kids.
The first thing we did was catch up on American Idol. He had only seen half of the boys’ show so we watched the rest of that and all the girls. Like everyone else, Leo said that he didn’t see how a boy was going to win unless there was some sort of drastic improvement. He has pretty good taste and liked all the same girls I do, especially Lakisha who, as far as I am concerned, has won already. Man that girl can sing and picking I am Telling You I’m not Going as her strong was pretty damn bold but she hit it out of the park.
After that Leo got to choose where we went to lunch and he chose Aculpoco. I really tried to suggest some other Mexcian restaurants since there are some great ones in our area and Aculpoco is so chainy and blah but that is where he really wanted to go so off we went. After all it was his special day. My friend, Karen Williamson, came along as well. She has been visiting for the weekend and she and I hadn’t really had time to hang out yet so she joined in the lunch and we all had a really nice time even though the service kind of sucked.
When we got back tot he house I tried to convince Leo to watch Airplane! He said he wanted an action movie but I told him Airplane! is one of the funniest movies ever. He asked me for a line from the movie and I said , “I picked a bad day to stop sniffing glue.” He nearly doubled over laughing so we decided to watch that but then after the convincing I couldn’t find the movie. So we watched Back to the Future II and III instead.
After that it was time for Leo to head back to his Dad’s and Joe and I were celebrating our 2 year anniversary that night. I got Joe a subscription to Sirius radio since his had lapsed. I also got him a PS3 and a money clip with his initial on it. He got me a really pretty necklace. We went to dinner at a restaurant called Taste and then went to Breach. Breach was ok, not terrible, but I didn;t think it was fantastic. The dinner though was super yummy. It was a really nice anniversary celebration and a really, really nice day. I wish everyday was like that.
