+WSOP Update
Well after my third in the 1/2 Omaha 8 or Better/1/2 Stud 8 or better I took a week off from the World Series. First, I was still sick as a dog and thought I need the rest. Second, I was teaching at the World Series of Poker Academy last weekend so knew I could not be in a tournament or I would miss it and that would not be okay.
The Academy went really well. The students were all really enthusiastic and I was so happy to see 100 women really dedicated to learning poker. I had so much fun with it and hopefully they will invite me back to teach next year. I know the camp will have more people in it because one of the students won the Ladies event at the WSOP that started the day after the camp! Congratulations to Sally Ann Boyer. That was really awesome!
After the camp was ver I came in to play a no limit event and realized just how sick I still was. My glands were swollen now and I just finally gave in and got a Z-Pac. I shouldn’t have played that event feeling like such crap. No Limit is definitely a game which suffers when you feel bad.
Since I got the Z-Pac I have played a few limit events and have been having the weirdest experience of getting really super low in chips late in the night, trying to get those chips in play, then making a little run to make it to day two.
Last night was the king of those nights in the $5K HORSE event. My kids are finally arriving today so I really didn’t want to come back Day 2 without many chips. I had a rough tournament where I never got above our starting count of 10K in chips. Nothing seemed to really go my way and I couldn’t get anything going. So in a late stud round I got down to 700 in chips. I got in all in and won the pot and was actually annoyed imaging coming back today at 1500 in chips playing 600-1200 limits. Ugh.
Well I kept getting my money in and kept winning pots or splitting them. Then in the hold’em round with about 3K in chips I double through Chris Ferguson when I had AA in the big blind. First, Chris was the last person I wanted to double through becaue I love him. But poker is poker and he is the one who ran into the Aces so nothing I could do there. But second that meant I ended the night with 6900. Still ridiculously low in chips but an impressive run from 700 in chips nonetheless.
I am thinking about Eli Elezra right now who is chip leader going into the final table of the stud 8 or better. Late on day 1 he was down to 900 in chips so it can be done. Maybe I will make a run at it myself today.
I am desperately excited to finally have my kids here. I can’t wait till they arrive later tonight. It has been a long two weeks without them
Lucy’s birthday is today. We have already had her party so we are set there but I promised her she could get her ears pierced so I am taking her to do that Monday. She is really psyched about that since she has been asking for 2 years…although just recently she did finally ask me if it would hurt:-)
I am taking Monday off from the WSOP to hang with the kids and do the piercing. I am really looking forward to that.
Well, off to get ready for day 2 of the HORSE. Let’s see if I can run this nub into something worthwhile
