+I Fractured My Pelvis!
So, as anyone knows who reads my blog regularly, I have been depressed because I haven’t really been able to run. About two months ago I was doing a 16 mile run and I developed a pretty sharp pain in my pelvic floor around mile 11. Of course, because I am an idiot, I kept running till mile 16. Well, that night I had a lot of trouble walking. Inf act, I really couldn’t walk. So I rested it for a week and then went out to run again and around mile 3 I had to stop and limp home. By that night I could not put any weight on my right leg. But did I go to the doctor? Oh, no! Of course not.
So, this went on for the last two months. This cycle of rest it and then try to run. And then last week I went out and at .5 miles I just said htis is stupid. I need to go see a sports medicine doctor. Which I did. And I have a fractured pelvic bone!
Ok…so that explains it. He did an x-ray and basically said well I don’t think we will see anything on this x-ray becasue stress fracture usually only show up on MRI’s. But he did the x-ray and there it was, clear as day, a pretty bad fracture. So now I am going in for an MRI jsut to see what is really going on but I am benched for 2 months! And by benched I mean I am not even allowed to get on an elliptical trainer. I am benched benched. Only yoga and swimming allowed.
Well, bleh! I am really upset. A little amazed that I kept going out and running three and four miles on a fractured pelvis. But upset that I have to cancel the marathon that I have been looking forward to in such a big way and upset that my body has apparently failed me. I suck
So, anyway, on Wednesday, tomorrow, you can come check out my fractured pelvis at San Manuel Casino. I am doing a training camp there..pretty cool because it is only $500 and that is half price of what it normally costs. Last Thursday we raised $500K at the AUFA event there. The Mission Band of Indians and San Manuel were so generous to the cause. I was left speechless…and that is almost impossible for me!
See you on Wednesday!
