Episode 9 of Celebrity Apprentice: I am a Whore Pit Viper

I am not exactly sure what a whore pit viper is but I hope it becomes the catch phrase of 2009.

This week we were tasked with creating a 4 page advertorial for Right Guard. The teams were 4 on 2 so one of Athena’s members needed to be moved over to KOTU. That morning I was sure it would be me. I figured the producers would want to see Joan and me on the same team. Man, was I wrong. Those producers are much, much smarter than I am for sure because the dynamic between me, Brande and Melissa was much more interesting to watch as was the dynamic between Clint and Jesse. Go producers for moving Jesse on over to KOTU. A much better move than I would have made.

So, I will go over KOTU first, then address Athena.

On KOTU, Jesse really knew magazine advertising.  He is an amazing photgrapher and he owns a magazine (called Garage Magazine) and understands the cutting edge of this kind of layout. Jesse and Joan both gave Clint ideas.  Joan came up with a bunch of big black guys hovering around David Lee (a white guy) to show David under pressure.  What the hell? I don’t get that and it seems kind of racist. So that idea was promptly rejected. Jesse came up with this idea of David being the new kid on the block with the pressures of New York City to deal with. He drew out an amazing two page spread with David in front of a beautiful cityscape. That is the idea KOTU went with. Good call.

Jesse went out to photograph the cityscape while Clint stayed back to lay out the project. I found the interactions on the team interesting. As far as I could tell, Joan just stayed out of the way once her ideas were rejected and left Clint and Jesse to do all the work. Clint incorporated a lot of Jesse’s ideas as well as some of his own. Jesse got pissed that Clint wasn’t executing all of Jesse’s ideas. Now I am a huge fan of Jesse James. I think he is incredibly talented. I think he is incredibly intelligent. I think he deserves to be in the final two. But in this case, I feel the need to defend Clint Black. Obviously, I wasn’t in the room so I am only looking at the edit. But it seemed that Clint was trying really hard to be accommodating of Jesse’s ideas and really incorporate them. In fact, the final layout seemed to reflect most of what Jesse wanted. Jesse, though, decided to absent himself from the process at some point. Even when Clint was begging for input, Jesse refused to give him any. In this case I think Jesse let his personal feelings about Clint (he clearly doesn’t like him) to get in the way of being a team player. Had the team lost, I would have actually thought Jesse should be fired for shutting Clint out like that when Clint was begging for help. I never thought I would say that because in terms of overall game play I don’t think there is a comparison between the two. Jesse is the much, much stronger player.

Over on Athena, Brande stepped up as Project Manager and doled out the tasks. She tasked me with doing the brand messaging and the presentation and the slogan and and and. I was actually very resistant to being tasked with so much. I tried to insist that Brande do the presentation as I felt that was a lot to put on my shoulders. In the end Brande really wanted me to do all that so I did what my Project Manager asked of me, reluctantly. Melissa was tasked with doing all the photo editing and layout work. Brande oversaw everything.

I came up with the concept of David Lee naked with the saying “Right Guard: The only thing I ever need to wear” That is the concept Brande chose to go with, which upset Melissa. In fact, everything upset Melissa. When I called Brande to let her know the photographer had said it was an advantage to shoot David first, Melissa got upset that we were keeping secrets. I am not sure why since we were on speaker phone. The fact is Melissa felt like she was being set up for failure by me and Brande. But that is actually not true. I am not saying that I would not have done that if I had to in order to succeed in the game. Of course I would have. But I didn’t need to. Melissa was setting herself up for failure with no help from me by being an ineffective fundraiser and abrasive in the boardroom to Trump, to Piers, to George, etc. At the end of the game, those things really matter and I already knew that Melissa was going to have trouble getting to the end. The dynamic with her mother was already bringing her down, the dynamic with the people in the boardroom as well. And the fundraising capabilities. Brande was, plain and simple, the stronger player.

But, amazingly, in the end I think we all worked very well together. I took Melissa aside to try to make her feel more included. Brande did the same. Because in the end we are a team and we wanted to win and not have to face the boardroom and go into the next task a team of 2 against a team of 3. I actually to this day think we made a very good layout. And I stand behind the presentation I did and was extremely surprised my Melissa’s comments about my presentation. She watched me practice that at least 5 times and never once said she didn’t like it. She never once said it wasn’t conversational enough. Even she thought it was bad, why didn’t she ever say that to my face? Why did she only critique me behind my back? My only explanation is that she was trying to set me up for failure, the very thing she accused me of doing to her. I would have liked the constructive criticism to tell you the truth since I was reluctant to do the presentation in the first place. I really felt Brande should be doing it.

So we go in the boardroom and this interesting dynamic between Clint and Jesse comes out. I knew Jesse did not like Clint. But that was hard for me to watch because, again, from what I saw Clint was actually trying to cooperate for once in the game and I could see he felt very shut out and thrown under the bus in all that. From what I could see the layout did mostly come from Jesse’s ideas…just not 100% of the layout. And when I saw their work I knew we were going to lose. They did a really good job. So I am surprised Jesse was so upset about the whole thing in the first place except that he just plain old doesn’t like Clint. That is my only explanation.

On our side, the executives liked the concept of David Lee half naked and they liked the branding but they thought the execution was boring. That was their words and that was our downfall. Athena lost the task. I was very nervous that I might be the one to go simply because I had been tasked with so much. The thing I had going for was exactly the compliment Cramer had paid to me earlier…that I had done most of the work so if we won I would get  a lot of credit it but I had also set myself up not be be fired because I had been so vocal in making sure that everyone knew I did not ask to have so much put on my shoulders. But that might not matter, even if I had played the hand right. Even if I had made sure I left all the decision making power with my PM I still might get axed for the failed layout since I had done so much of it.

As soon as we got in the boardroom, though, it became clear right away that I was not in danger. Trump, Cramer and Ivanka all quizzed both Brande and Melissa about whether or not I had taken over the task and everyone vehemently agreed that I had not. That really put me out of hot water and, interestingly enough, it was Melissa who really argued the most strongly in my favor when she was trying to argue I should be fired.

http://www.nbc.com/the-celebrity-apprentice/video/clips/week-9-who-would-melissa-fire/1091268/

The other point was that, actually, in the end the execs thought the photos were boring and that happened to be the one thing that was not my job. That was a lucky break for me since I had so much on my shoulders in this task. So it came down to Brande and Melissa and who would be fired. When I was asked about this I had an interesting dilemma. At this point in the game, Brande and I had become very good friends so my loyalties certainly were with her. However, I also knew that going into the next task I would a) have to be project manager if Brande went along with me since she had already stepped up twice and b) that if we were to lose I would have a much weaker argument against Brande than I would against Melissa. Being PM for sure on the next task would be a tough spot since the PM is usually the most under fire. And Brande was the stronger player to boot. She had raised much more money than Melissa, second only to me in fact in the game. She was an incredibly hard worker. And, this is really important, she was really well liked. Much more well liked than me, obviously. Melissa, on the other hand, was a weak fundraiser, was not well liked at all and would have to be project manager on the next task since she had lost on her first try so would need to try for a win in order to win the whole game. So taking Melissa long with me would be a better play.

But I really went against game play here and decided to argue for Melissa getting fired. Why? Because I really just felt Brande deserved to be in the game more and I just plain really like and respect her as a person. So when push came to shove, I recommended Melissa get fired even though it felt like it was against my short term best interests. I figured the life equity issue was much more important to me at that point…walking away from the game knowing that I had been loyal to my friend, to Brande.

So, in the end Trump fired Melissa and, well, you saw the meltdown from the Rivers for yourself. Folks! It’s a game where you get fake fired from a fake job all in the hopes of raising a ton of money for charity! Really, calling anyone a whore pit viper under those circumstances is an extreme reaction and, frankly, not losing with grace. And Joan Rivers. Well. What can I say there? As far as Brande goes…as much as Joan likes to claim I called Brande an idiot she is the only one who has disparaged Brande’s intellect falling on the age old your a dumb blond insult. Brande defended herself pretty well against that one pointing out if she is so stupid then why is she still there and not Melissa. Good point Brande. For everyone thinking I somehow manipulated Brande in order to get ahead in the game I would venture to say it is quite the opposite. Brande outplayed Melissa pretty nicely.

Now, as for Joan’s comments about poker players…well…what I said on the show is true. Poker players are the most wonderful people you will ever meet. Poker players are thoughtful and generous and are good for their word. I think it is so interesting that the group that has come out the most strongly in support of the show and in support of these charities, poker players, are so vilely disparaged by Joan on the show. But it was clear Joan doesn’t care much about that when she said, “Oh stop with all this charity nonsense.” Joan can attack me all she wants. She can attack my morals. She can call me a Nazi and compare me to Hitler. I signed up for that when I agreed to do the show. I was there to defend myself. But to use such a broad brush to insult a whole group of people who did not sign up for that kind of abuse, implying they are criminals, saying outright that they give blood money and are worse than white trash. Well now I am angry. To insult me is one thing. I can take it. To insult my friends who have been nothing but generous and selfless in their support of charity. That is a whole other thing and that is where you can get a rise out of me.

Joan saying that all poker players have no last names and are worse than white trash is like me saying that all comedians are miserable, depressed people who take their angst, anger and unhappiness out on everyone around them. Clearly, that would be unfair.

    Go get (another) face lift…LMAO!!

  2. Victoria says:

Give me a break to all the idiots who say Annie should get a break because she is doing this for charity.

If she was as philanthropic as you believe, she could have played the game with dignity and class, instead of being a manipulative, low class jerk.

This had nothing to do with charity and everything to do with Annie’s ego.

  3. Tom says:

    Ms. Duke,

I am curious. Given the title of this thread, I have a question.

How do you think your children will feel when they see on TV or hear from their classmates concerning you bragging about your oral skills whilst using an amazingly vulgar term?

Just curious. Doesn’t really jive with the “Mom Of The Year” persona you’ve been advancing.

  4. Lynn Boyd says:

IMHO you come across on Celebrity Apprentice as a selfish, egotistical, braggart. Although Melissa may seem a bit sensitive, she does have reason to be hurt (and angry). What I saw on television was nothing more than a shrewed attempt on your part to set Melissa up to be fired, positioning yourself against the weaker player – Brande. I have to agree with Joan on this one… sometimes it’s not all about the money.

  5. shelley ann says:

Oh good god. I like you less now than I did on last night’s program. melissa and joan are right.

  6. Cindi says:

Annie…………continue holding your ground and staying calm, you are a much better persos than the “rivers”……….their reaction last night was way out of line, very unprofessional and frankly embarassing………..the vile that came from them is disgusting……..hope you win ANNIE!!!!!!!!

  7. Wow says:

I guess this will get deleted as well since only the hardcore fans mostly get posted, but I cant get over all the people praising Annie and Brande. It doesn’t take a genius to see that Annie will toss Brande under the bus and soon. It’s going to hurt for Brande because she is naive enough to think that Annie really likes her as a pal when she’s really just playing her. They were just horrible to Melissa, acting like spoiled high school brats and then Annie has the nerve to act like she’s annoyed at Brande too just to get Melissa to open up and see how to dig into Melissa further. We’re out of high school Annie, grow up.

It’s one thing to have business savvy, but Annie is just a user. Annie, it IS possible to have respect for yourself and others while doing business deals. Maybe it’s time you started showing it. It’s one thing to sit back and learn your opponents and play them but to be as cruel as you are and then smile and laugh when they cry is just mean. I hope you grow up soon.

  8. John d. says:

I love how seriously some people are taking this. It’s a game!! You can’t judge anything about a person’s character. First off, the game is edited, uh, obviously. Second, annie hasn’t done a damn thing to look like a bad person, and even joan, while her behavior was totally inappropriate and crossed the line, and I hope trump brings out holocaust experts to set her straight, is probably a very nice old lady and the long hours are just too much for her or she’s trying to get some publicity through bad behavior.

Tom, thanks for that brilliant bit of insight. My mother abused me, but she never talked about sex on tv, so I guess she must be mother of the year. I think you can tell if someone is a good or bad parent by whether they wear red on tv and how well they design ad pages for a fake job interview, I’m a genius like that.

Finally, I’m worried about melissa rivers. The trauma she must have endured be being forced to pretend to work a few hours a day with no one automatically fawning over her and deferring to her because of her name is unimaginable. Brande and annie need to organize a live aid type benefit to support her through her ordeal. Hands across america for melissa’s hardships and victimization.

  9. F says:

Annie, you’re sooo smart! I really admire you!!! You’re playing the game the right way, I really want you to win!!!

  10. Lisa says:

Annie After reading your take on this task you said that Brandie put all of this one your plate well that is not really the truth. I know you are a poker player and in your line of work the only real qualification you need is to be sneaky and manipulative but i say lets call a spade a spade you played Brandie and she is dumb for letting you do that. I know this is a game and I know this is for many good causes but please stop painting yourself out to be the victum in all of this when you are really the orcastrater in all of this. Jesse is going to kick your but in the rest of the taskes and I really cant wait to see that. If Trump is true to his word then Jesse will be the next winner.

  11. Robert says:

Admittedly, I had never heard of you before The Celebrity Apprentice but I must say, I have fallen for you. You are brilliant.

  12. Steve says:

So Tom, loosen up a bit. Annie, you should win it all. I think your kids have a lot to be proud of.

  13. Mario Lanza says:

Annie, I have no idea why people are so upset at you for playing a game, but I say keep it up. As any good competitor knows, there is no second place in anything! You win or you lose. That’s it!

Joan and Melissa are big crybabies.

Keep up the good work. Kick their butts.

  14. John S. says:

Each year, outside of the WSOP events, there’s a booth where you can say if you cash in any event, you can donate like 1% or more to charity. I’d say about 75% of the people actually do this.

Poker players are generous with charities, and giving money, because higher stakes players really have no regard for money. They may be like “100k? No problem. I lost that in one hand last night.”

As for Annie, yes you are playing this game very well, and you have a tremendous support from the poker community.

On the flipside though, you have been manipulative just a bit. But that is in your nature when it gets this close into closing a contest, whether it be at the tables or in the boardroom.

Though you thought that Brandie was an obvious choice to keep around when she’s raised so much, you also probably had going through your head, from the past weeks of gang ups, that the “Rivers” team would be pretty difficult to maneuver much further.

So in essence, you knew that Melissa was more of a threat than Brandie. So that’s why there was a bit more of a comraderie with Brandie more, though you tried to hide it a lot more.

For Joan’s comments… well they were extremely uncalled for for the past few weeks now. She’s made a living doing comedy in various places, one of them being Las Vegas… Where does she think her salary she got while playing Vegas came from? It came from people that like to gamble, and some that play poker as well.

I don’t think that she’ll have as many people goto her comedy routines anymore if she does them in vegas at all. Not with the deplorable comments she made to a group of people that have a huge heart when it comes to charaties.

But then again, she’s in her 70′s and you know the saying, “Can’t teach an old dog new tricks.” Well she’s an old hag with her ideals and her feelings already set in stone. I do feel sorry for her, cause she can’t look past any of it.

  15. Tom says:

    Hey, Annie-ites,

Sorry you can’t reconcile your hero GOING ON NATIONAL TELEVISION and blurting out that she gives a great (insert vulgarity.)

The woman has children. I’m sure there is a TV in their vicinity, and I’m sure their classmates have ‘em, too. Their ages are roughly 14, 11, 9 and 7.

    Two of them are girls.

I know you worship this woman. That’s your right. But don’t put blinders on when she stupidly and with zero class announces this on national TV as if it’s a binding fact more than just her opinion. And then, the fact that her kids will certainly know about Mommy’s level of class.

As I stated earlier, Annie is a brilliant player of the game. It’s really sad, because she likely could have won without being such a two-faced, classless, and untrustworthy backstabbing person, given her ability to raise money.

She took the low road. Period.

  16. Joan+Melissa Rosenberg says:

Lisa says, ” I know you are a poker player and in your line of work the only real qualification you need is to be sneaky and manipulative ”

Another stupid, ignorant loser who knows nothing about anything speaks up!

  17. Evan Drew says:

Wow. Not sure what show some of these posters are watching, but I have not heard one insult hurled by Annie. I have heard plenty of boasts, but not one insult. Perhaps the posters have never played a GAME. Or perhaps feel intimidated. I, for one, am really enjoying the show, but I find myself holding my breath when Annis is in the boardroom with a losing team. She has been the most out-going player and the most successful fund-raiser, but things happen. Please Annie, keep it going!

  18. Rick says:

Annie, You probably require affirmation less than almost anyone else, but let me state the obvious -you are a rare breed of woman. If every man in America had a woman like you (and I know, because I do) – genius, sexed, intense, compassionate and beautiful – there would be less frustration and more empowered enlightenment. It is amazing to me how America pouts in the presence of such a powerful woman of various ways.

  19. John says:

It’s amazing how full of crapola Annie is in this blog. The claim that Annie was not trying to take over the David Lee task is especially absurd. She not only tried but did take over that task (and several earlier ones too!) Then there’s the nonsense that she believed Brande posed a bigger threat than Melissa, but still spoke out on Brande’s behalf in the boardroom. Give it a rest Annie. You’re not fooling anyone.

Joan Rivers’ diatribes about Annie are often way over the top. But I understand how Melissa felt after being fired yesterday. She lost her cool but at least it was a display of honest emotion. Annie is so preoccupied with manipulating others that I’m not sure she’s capable of exhibiting an honest display of emotion. She’s just cold and calculating, which is scary.

  20. jeremy says:

why do my posts get deleted? is it because i keep bringing up the unspoken “appearance fees” that players get per episode hence giving them motivation to work 16 hour days? please! if any of them just cared about charity they can write their own checks (clearly annie especiallY). every contestent on the show has an agenda and IT IS NOT CHARITY!

  21. Joan+Melissa Rosenberg says:

To all the losers who came here specifically to trash Annie for not being as perfect as you all obviously are:

1- the cameras are on them every minute they are there. many a reality star on dif shows have said they totally forget the cams are on and are there, they just blank them out. Though I can’t imagine it appropriate for a woman to ever blurt out the BJ comment or use disgusting sexual language, I highly doubt it occurred it Annie that would get aired on tv -AND remember, it was bleeped out- you all are filling in the blanks. If you assume she would say it intentionally in front of a live camera for tv, then you are intentionally looking for the bad side of Annie.

2-her kids are children. They are too young to give one hoot about a reality show for adults. If by chance any of them do hear something at school, well that says alot about the parent of that child now doesn’t it? That parent spoke of it in front of their child or let them watch the program (which is on too late for kids anyway).

3-it is a game, it is a game, it is a game, it is ALLLLLLLLL about the money. Yep, whoever above said it’s not, will never be a success at anything in life. Annie didn’t go there to make friends or answer to the little peons who judge her. She like most of the went there to expose their charities to the masses and get a little personal PR. It’s called marketing.

4-Joan is a lunatic and Melissa is a narcissist. Their endless attacks and personal emotion in the game shows their lack of maturity, gamemenship and mental stability. They both are the laughing stock of the celebrity industry.

5-Joan Rivers has lived in NY for many many yrs and in show business 40+ years. The fact she couldn’t raise any money for a charity auction speaks VOLUMES about this woman

6-Trump can swear until he’s blue in the face that he put both Melissa and Joan on because they were deserving. But anyone with a brain can see he knows Joan personally, she’s emotionally ego-centric and unstable and being on there with her daughter would create a mega ratings show.

7- Just because we want Annie to win or defend her gamesmanship doesn’t mean we all approve of every one of her behavior traits. She is a hard core player and go getter. I have to give her that.

8-Brande is a grown woman. You can’t just assume that she’s a robot and Annie is holding the controls. Do I think Annie can out game her in the end? hell ya! But Brande is a smart enough woman that she knows how to go after what she wants.

9-anyone who comes here of all places to intentionally defend Joan and/or Melissa, it just proves so much about yourself. To ignore the outrageous, offensive, out of line comments Joan has used and then to only be angry at Annie’s gamesmanship- well it says alot about the ney-sayers.

10- lastly, for the love of god, can’t you people get it through your heads that it is all edited down to fit a 42 minute show (1 hour program) or 85 minute (2 hr program) and what you see on tv is NOT the whole story?

The idea that Annie manipulated Brande which in turn manipulated Melissa straight out of the game, is just ridiculous. Melissa has been whining on camera for weeks and she was a hypocrite in this last program simply by her crying they left her out and then claiming they did “equal work” and later in a private interview claiming she did a LOT of work on the assignment. Make up your mind Melissa! You can’t have it both ways!

Let’s not forget that Melissa is over 40 yrs old. It’s time for her to break away from the apron strings of her mommy.

  22. Joan+Melissa Rosenberg says:

Jeremy that wouldn’t be called an “appearance fee”. Of course people on reality tv get paid for their time in front of a camera for a national tv show, and I can assure you it’s a miniscule amount. None of them are there for that small fee they get to be on the show. Yeh they have a variety of agendas as I mentioned above, but most of them obviously were there for the fun of being on CA, the charities and the exposure. Some like pathetic Tom Green, Andrew Dice Clay, Dennis-it’s pretty obvious they didn’t go there giving 2-shits about any charity. The rest I believe were there for the charities and the fun of the competiton, the fun of saying they were on CA, and the exposure.

  23. Christa says:

Well, I’ve only seen the last couple of episodes and had never heard of you before, and definitely the Rivers women were outrageous in their outbursts last night, but boy are you coming across as insecure. Anyone who needs to claim credit for everything (me! me! me! I did that! and that too!) and boast continually (look at me everyone! look at me! I can cook, and cook better and faster than any chef, and raise four kids and give good head to boot!) is just showing how little confidence they really have. Odd, especially given how accomplished you seem to be. I’m curious though: How do your kids feel about how you’re coming across?

  25. William H. White says:

Annie you go girl. Joan Rivers is an empty nest mother and Melissa is clearly a spoiled brat.

  26. LucasMax says:

Now the show finally has the real talent left; we can all thank Donald Trump for that. I hsve watched every episode this season for a couple reasons. Clint and Annie are the two main reasons. They show more professionalism and they take accountability for themselves. I thought Clint was brilliant to bring in Chloe instead of the other week. I could post slandering opinions about the people that do not deserve to be ‘celebrities’ but i will just say ‘thank god’ that the rivers are gone.

  27. Soph says:

Well, I have to accept that u are very smart Annie! Definitely you know how to play the game! However I dont think is fair that Melissa got fired! First, Brande didn’t work at all until the jewelry task! Before that, she didn’t participate, she just stayed out of the decision so she can not be responsible for anything! Melissa worked in every task!!!!!!!!!!Last show she worked more than Brande, you worked more than Brande! She’s dump!!!Gorgeous but dump! Ok, she raised a lot of money but come on!!! we know why!!!!

Like Joans said, it’s horrible that everything is about money!!!!

I’m angry because Melissa got fired and Brande stayed! that’s all!

Honestly, I Think you wil win! you are the manipulative, smart, confident, tough, harpy, insensitive person Trump usually prefers!

  28. Amber says:

what is with all of these crazy people on your blog saying you are deleting their posts? Can they not see the blue words “Older Comments” and click on them. Miracle of Miracles, their older posts just appear! Must be magic.

  29. Tom says:

    Joan + Melissa,

    1. If the cameras are on the ALL THE TIME, a smart person would know that ANYTHING they said could make it on television. A person with class wouldn’t have said it in the first place. If it didn’t occur to Annie, she ain’t the savvy, is she? Seeing as how a zillion cameras were in her face for an extended period of time.

    2. Ever hear of HULU? Yeah, it’s where people–including children–can watch TV shows any time of day. And as far as what people will say–if you don’t use such language, while happily and proudly proclaiming your expertise, no one on the schoolyard will have a reason to say ANYTHING. As for her children, it will without a doubt leave an impression of their mother upon them to hear her do such a thing in such a cavalier and snarky manner.

  30. Lane says:

I can’t believe what happened. I wonder what will occur next week and another episode of the “4 stooges”.

  31. John says:

Annie is not nearly as evil as Joan Rivers claims, but she comes off as a manipulative phony to me. It doesn’t help that she continues her manipulation and deceit on her blog, at least in my view.

And seeing through Ms. Annie’s charade does not make someone a loser. The person here who thinks otherwise has been sipping too much of Annie’s Kool-Aid!

Finally, I would love to receive the “miniscule” appearance fee that Celebrity Apprentice contestants get! It’s not just about charity. The celebrities are paid and they get a lot of publicity. Annie Duke will probably parlay her appearance on the show into considerable income (and there is nothing wrong with that).

  32. meredith says:

    hey annie.

so my husband and i are big poker fans and amateur players. we actually met at a regular hold ‘em game. you have always been an inspiration and favorite of mine as an amateur female player and i have to say i’m really disappointed and completely turned off by your reactions to and behavior on celeb apprentice. you are not a team player and frankly you act like your shit doesn’t stink. well it does.

oh, and poker players are only generous for the tax benefits. don’t play it like we don’t know why your “friends” want to buy 50,000 dresses. we aren’t all as dumb as brande.

  33. Sandy Brown says:

    Joan+Melissa Rosenberg says…

“Let’s not forget that Melissa is over 40 yrs old. It’s time for her to break away from the apron strings of her mommy”.

    Sandy Brown says:

You’re kidding me? THAT GIRL is over forty? Wow! Did you see that hissyfit she threw on the way out the door?…Just like a five year old who had her toys taken away from her.

  34. Joan+Melissa Rosenberg says:

Some of you may enjoy this brief article-

It is Trump’s official blog and this section is set aside for the show.

this article written in his blog is by someone named Sean and he offers up some advice for the contestants that are left – in order to win.

It was posted before last night’s show.

Pretty brief and a good read.

Gee that’s nice. Giving advice to the contestants after the shows have already been taped! LOL!!!

Annie – I think you are great! I’m a poker player myself (but certainly not in your league) and Joan has absolutely no verbal filters – what she said even embarrassed her own daughter. As for Melissa, her mother taught her everything she knows so it’s not really her fault. She’s an only child who was spoiled rotten her whole life.
While sometimes I do think you go over the top in ‘blowing your own horn’ I’m ok with it since you are speaking the truth… it just that sometimes not everyone want to hear ‘you’ say it. Perhaps a bit more modesty but in the end “if you got it, flaunt it” and you do seem to have it all. You are my inspiration! I would like to see you and Jesse in the finals – you are the two most creative people on the team and will make a great final two.

  37. Lee says:

Annie, you are one of my favourite players in the celebrity apprentice. You are by far the best candidate in the whole series in the apprentice. You have tried so many times to save the team from behind. You step up every time when you are team member or project manager. You are a good person. Even you have some conflicts with Melissa, you still give her a lot of credits and try to help her so much in the team which you don’t have to. You contribute the most in the competition. Joan and Melissa will only consider thier winning tasks because of them(You help them a lot in many tasks) I have no doubt that you should win the game

  38. Crene says:

tom, you make SUCH good points. I, too, am scared of women, and I’ll never forgive my mother for having sex! We should form a club

You people are crazy. Brande is much stiffer competition than Melissa. She can raise money and win contests other than whine-offs. Melissa screwed herself by cutting off Trump, had she kept her mouth shut she would have stayed even though she’s supposedly in the industry yet the photos looked terrible. Nobody sabotaged her and it would have been better for Annie to keep her around.

  39. elsa says:

The Rivers may have left the show in an overly dramatic way, but Annie is far from innocent of any wrongdoing. She is manipulative, and she does not show any respect or professionalism to others. During the meeting with the Right Guard folks, she constantly put Melissa down in front of them in a demeaning way. She is a B#$ch, majorly.

  40. John d. says:

Tom, this is the worst thing that ever happened. It is unpredcedented. Those children will be scarred for life. We need to petition congress to take away the children of any woman who ever used that rare, vulgar term. That would be every kid in America, but it’s worth it. Moral turpitude no more! Let the kids heal!

I agree that annie is cold, calculating and emotionless. The way she acts, you’d think this was a tv game show/fake job interview among celebrities who don’t know or care about each othet where everybody wins as it’s all for charity rather than a life and death struggle for our way of life. She doesn’t appreciate the seriousness of it all! How can you not go crazy when your three week free vacation at trump tower ends?

  41. Paul C says:

Annie, when Joan reviled you as a “poker player,” you should’ve come back with “Yeah, well at least I give the audience a refund when I have a bad night!”

Honestly, poker is the most honest form of capitalism alive today. One need look no further than the current economy and the reason for it’s woes for proof.

  42. Helen says:

Ok how can you set back and think you did nothing wrong. First you never ever talk to an elder in the way that you talked to Joan Rivers. Even if she is wrong that’s just rude. You should have been the bigger person and just walked away. I am so sick of hearing you go on and on and on about how I’ve done this and I’ve done that, how you are friends with this person and that person. Another thing way is it that no one has a charity helping people here in the United States with the way the things are going here at home you would think someone would help the children and people here at home first.

  43. Graham says:

    Joan is right…no class.

  44. John says:

Actually with all of Annie’s scheming and manipulation, she’s the one who seems to think this is some life and death struggle rather than a game!

  45. Mark says:

Annie, you beat her and humiliated her and Jim Cramer was mocking her on his show today. Why do you have to gloat? Now you’re behaving exactly like they said you were. It was an ugly episode all around. Not everything is a poker game. Just let it go.

  46. Palo Alto says:

Oh grow up people. Joan Rivers own words. I have been a fan of Joan’s for EVER, and Melissa never bothered me, I actually liked her going in. I still like Joan, and I would like to send Melissa to self esteem therapy. Many people are picked on in high school, join the freakin’ club! At some point you have to grow up and get OVER it.

This is a GAME people, and the individual skills people have to get them to a station in life where Donald Trump would invite them to play this game, are the very same skills you are reviling.

Some of you are so derisive, you make it sound like one has to be a hardcore fan of one person or another to make a comment on here. I am almost seeing a pattern on this blog, those that were hated on in high school and those who were not.

For anyone who noticed, Melissa and Joan were having some difficulties raising money. About three weeks ago the real badmouthing of others by Joan and Melissa began. Smacked of jealousy to me. I actually Twittered Joan a few weeks ago saying that Melissa was being a bit whiny, that no one had been ‘badmouthing’ her. I was surprised when the backstabbing and gossiping began. Why don’t you watch it all again and see who was doing all the insulting?

Seriously, it’s a game where people are set to A) work in teams and B) keep themselves in the game by ousting others, until one stands alone.

You are smacking someone because she outsmarted someone else??? That’s the name of the game Einsteins! Why are you all putting the morality of the corporate world onto one female poker player? Ridiculous. Melissa and Joan disappointed me with their ridiculous antics, name calling and demands, no matter how they thought they were treated.

Regis and Kelly called Donald Trump this morning, and he admitted that the ultimate decision to fire Melissa was his. He passed a note to Jim Kramer to fire her. He said she had not been highly effective all along. This is true. Just because you work hard, doesn’t mean you are always effective. The goal is to raise money, not practice morals. She was not accomplishing that. Period. If you want to watch a show about Morals and lessons learned about humility and compassion, then watch Full House.

  47. Tom says:

The Annie-ites are making my point for me.

They, like their idol, have NO PROBLEM announcing to 7,9,11, and 14 year old children–THREE OF WHOM ARE GIRLS–that Mommy gives a great (insert vulgarity, no pun intended.)

Her supporters, like her, are so CLASSY.

She has a degree in psychology. Even an freshman-level psychology student would know that a mom, loudly, proudly and on NATIONAL TELEVISION, exposing her kids to an incredibly low level of behavior sexually, is NOT the act of ANY sort of role model.

    Much less a good mother.

But it’s important for a 7-year old to see or hear about her Mommy giving a great one.

No class is no class. Period.

  48. Natalie says:

To be honest, Annie Duke you rock! If you don’t at least make the final 2 I’m going to be depressed. People can say what they want, but playing the game is exactly what should be done! The “scheming and manipulation” that you are doing is what makes people great! How else do you become a successful poker player!? Best of luck!!

  49. kathy says:

it is amazing that if Annie were a man most would say she was confident, self assured, a leader and great game player. Just because you are confident in your ideas that does not mean you are arrogant or self asorbed. I felt you really stood up for what you thought was right. Lets not forget the whey pasta that everyone on your team was against but that the company loved. Insane that women do not suport each other.

Annie I think you are doing a great job staying cool while being verbally attacked. That shows true class being able to disengage from the drama.

Joan and Melissa looked like idiots and spoiled brats.
