+Episode 9 of Celebrity Apprentice: I am a Whore Pit Viper
I am not exactly sure what a whore pit viper is but I hope it becomes the catch phrase of 2009.
This week we were tasked with creating a 4 page advertorial for Right Guard. The teams were 4 on 2 so one of Athena’s members needed to be moved over to KOTU. That morning I was sure it would be me. I figured the producers would want to see Joan and me on the same team. Man, was I wrong. Those producers are much, much smarter than I am for sure because the dynamic between me, Brande and Melissa was much more interesting to watch as was the dynamic between Clint and Jesse. Go producers for moving Jesse on over to KOTU. A much better move than I would have made.
So, I will go over KOTU first, then address Athena.
On KOTU, Jesse really knew magazine advertising. He is an amazing photgrapher and he owns a magazine (called Garage Magazine) and understands the cutting edge of this kind of layout. Jesse and Joan both gave Clint ideas. Joan came up with a bunch of big black guys hovering around David Lee (a white guy) to show David under pressure. What the hell? I don’t get that and it seems kind of racist. So that idea was promptly rejected. Jesse came up with this idea of David being the new kid on the block with the pressures of New York City to deal with. He drew out an amazing two page spread with David in front of a beautiful cityscape. That is the idea KOTU went with. Good call.
Jesse went out to photograph the cityscape while Clint stayed back to lay out the project. I found the interactions on the team interesting. As far as I could tell, Joan just stayed out of the way once her ideas were rejected and left Clint and Jesse to do all the work. Clint incorporated a lot of Jesse’s ideas as well as some of his own. Jesse got pissed that Clint wasn’t executing all of Jesse’s ideas. Now I am a huge fan of Jesse James. I think he is incredibly talented. I think he is incredibly intelligent. I think he deserves to be in the final two. But in this case, I feel the need to defend Clint Black. Obviously, I wasn’t in the room so I am only looking at the edit. But it seemed that Clint was trying really hard to be accommodating of Jesse’s ideas and really incorporate them. In fact, the final layout seemed to reflect most of what Jesse wanted. Jesse, though, decided to absent himself from the process at some point. Even when Clint was begging for input, Jesse refused to give him any. In this case I think Jesse let his personal feelings about Clint (he clearly doesn’t like him) to get in the way of being a team player. Had the team lost, I would have actually thought Jesse should be fired for shutting Clint out like that when Clint was begging for help. I never thought I would say that because in terms of overall game play I don’t think there is a comparison between the two. Jesse is the much, much stronger player.
Over on Athena, Brande stepped up as Project Manager and doled out the tasks. She tasked me with doing the brand messaging and the presentation and the slogan and and and. I was actually very resistant to being tasked with so much. I tried to insist that Brande do the presentation as I felt that was a lot to put on my shoulders. In the end Brande really wanted me to do all that so I did what my Project Manager asked of me, reluctantly. Melissa was tasked with doing all the photo editing and layout work. Brande oversaw everything.
I came up with the concept of David Lee naked with the saying “Right Guard: The only thing I ever need to wear” That is the concept Brande chose to go with, which upset Melissa. In fact, everything upset Melissa. When I called Brande to let her know the photographer had said it was an advantage to shoot David first, Melissa got upset that we were keeping secrets. I am not sure why since we were on speaker phone. The fact is Melissa felt like she was being set up for failure by me and Brande. But that is actually not true. I am not saying that I would not have done that if I had to in order to succeed in the game. Of course I would have. But I didn’t need to. Melissa was setting herself up for failure with no help from me by being an ineffective fundraiser and abrasive in the boardroom to Trump, to Piers, to George, etc. At the end of the game, those things really matter and I already knew that Melissa was going to have trouble getting to the end. The dynamic with her mother was already bringing her down, the dynamic with the people in the boardroom as well. And the fundraising capabilities. Brande was, plain and simple, the stronger player.
But, amazingly, in the end I think we all worked very well together. I took Melissa aside to try to make her feel more included. Brande did the same. Because in the end we are a team and we wanted to win and not have to face the boardroom and go into the next task a team of 2 against a team of 3. I actually to this day think we made a very good layout. And I stand behind the presentation I did and was extremely surprised my Melissa’s comments about my presentation. She watched me practice that at least 5 times and never once said she didn’t like it. She never once said it wasn’t conversational enough. Even she thought it was bad, why didn’t she ever say that to my face? Why did she only critique me behind my back? My only explanation is that she was trying to set me up for failure, the very thing she accused me of doing to her. I would have liked the constructive criticism to tell you the truth since I was reluctant to do the presentation in the first place. I really felt Brande should be doing it.
So we go in the boardroom and this interesting dynamic between Clint and Jesse comes out. I knew Jesse did not like Clint. But that was hard for me to watch because, again, from what I saw Clint was actually trying to cooperate for once in the game and I could see he felt very shut out and thrown under the bus in all that. From what I could see the layout did mostly come from Jesse’s ideas…just not 100% of the layout. And when I saw their work I knew we were going to lose. They did a really good job. So I am surprised Jesse was so upset about the whole thing in the first place except that he just plain old doesn’t like Clint. That is my only explanation.
On our side, the executives liked the concept of David Lee half naked and they liked the branding but they thought the execution was boring. That was their words and that was our downfall. Athena lost the task. I was very nervous that I might be the one to go simply because I had been tasked with so much. The thing I had going for was exactly the compliment Cramer had paid to me earlier…that I had done most of the work so if we won I would get a lot of credit it but I had also set myself up not be be fired because I had been so vocal in making sure that everyone knew I did not ask to have so much put on my shoulders. But that might not matter, even if I had played the hand right. Even if I had made sure I left all the decision making power with my PM I still might get axed for the failed layout since I had done so much of it.
As soon as we got in the boardroom, though, it became clear right away that I was not in danger. Trump, Cramer and Ivanka all quizzed both Brande and Melissa about whether or not I had taken over the task and everyone vehemently agreed that I had not. That really put me out of hot water and, interestingly enough, it was Melissa who really argued the most strongly in my favor when she was trying to argue I should be fired.
http://www.nbc.com/the-celebrity-apprentice/video/clips/week-9-who-would-melissa-fire/1091268/
The other point was that, actually, in the end the execs thought the photos were boring and that happened to be the one thing that was not my job. That was a lucky break for me since I had so much on my shoulders in this task. So it came down to Brande and Melissa and who would be fired. When I was asked about this I had an interesting dilemma. At this point in the game, Brande and I had become very good friends so my loyalties certainly were with her. However, I also knew that going into the next task I would a) have to be project manager if Brande went along with me since she had already stepped up twice and b) that if we were to lose I would have a much weaker argument against Brande than I would against Melissa. Being PM for sure on the next task would be a tough spot since the PM is usually the most under fire. And Brande was the stronger player to boot. She had raised much more money than Melissa, second only to me in fact in the game. She was an incredibly hard worker. And, this is really important, she was really well liked. Much more well liked than me, obviously. Melissa, on the other hand, was a weak fundraiser, was not well liked at all and would have to be project manager on the next task since she had lost on her first try so would need to try for a win in order to win the whole game. So taking Melissa long with me would be a better play.
But I really went against game play here and decided to argue for Melissa getting fired. Why? Because I really just felt Brande deserved to be in the game more and I just plain really like and respect her as a person. So when push came to shove, I recommended Melissa get fired even though it felt like it was against my short term best interests. I figured the life equity issue was much more important to me at that point…walking away from the game knowing that I had been loyal to my friend, to Brande.
So, in the end Trump fired Melissa and, well, you saw the meltdown from the Rivers for yourself. Folks! It’s a game where you get fake fired from a fake job all in the hopes of raising a ton of money for charity! Really, calling anyone a whore pit viper under those circumstances is an extreme reaction and, frankly, not losing with grace. And Joan Rivers. Well. What can I say there? As far as Brande goes…as much as Joan likes to claim I called Brande an idiot she is the only one who has disparaged Brande’s intellect falling on the age old your a dumb blond insult. Brande defended herself pretty well against that one pointing out if she is so stupid then why is she still there and not Melissa. Good point Brande. For everyone thinking I somehow manipulated Brande in order to get ahead in the game I would venture to say it is quite the opposite. Brande outplayed Melissa pretty nicely.
Now, as for Joan’s comments about poker players…well…what I said on the show is true. Poker players are the most wonderful people you will ever meet. Poker players are thoughtful and generous and are good for their word. I think it is so interesting that the group that has come out the most strongly in support of the show and in support of these charities, poker players, are so vilely disparaged by Joan on the show. But it was clear Joan doesn’t care much about that when she said, “Oh stop with all this charity nonsense.” Joan can attack me all she wants. She can attack my morals. She can call me a Nazi and compare me to Hitler. I signed up for that when I agreed to do the show. I was there to defend myself. But to use such a broad brush to insult a whole group of people who did not sign up for that kind of abuse, implying they are criminals, saying outright that they give blood money and are worse than white trash. Well now I am angry. To insult me is one thing. I can take it. To insult my friends who have been nothing but generous and selfless in their support of charity. That is a whole other thing and that is where you can get a rise out of me.
Joan saying that all poker players have no last names and are worse than white trash is like me saying that all comedians are miserable, depressed people who take their angst, anger and unhappiness out on everyone around them. Clearly, that would be unfair.
Annie, I hope you win this show!!!!!
You are fantastic. Are people forgetting this is a game about winning the most for charity?
Annie I am sorry but I cannot STAND to watch you on this show. Your arrogance is so annoying and disgusting. You are no better than any of the contestants left on the show. If you were really smart you would have had Brande fired obviously. You made this game catty and personal which is so disgusting. I can’t even say more b/c I am just sick of you and your whole dimeanor. You are not the center of the universe b/c you are a poker player w/ gobs of money, rich friends etc. Get a life.
Can you commenters tell me why you like Annie? Is it because she is good at the game and she is likely to win? or is it because of her as a person (attitude)?
i really don’t see why anyone would like her for the latter. come on, why would anyone like someone who is way beyond arrogant and shows offs like a brat. telling everyone, it was all HER idea, I did this, I can do anything…
the way annie looks when Melissa tried to ask the clients questions and then cuts in. I guess this is part of American character and how to survive there.
I play online poker, watch nascar, drink jack and listen to country music. I also volunteer for the Royal Canadian Legion serving on my local executive of our branch.
If poker players are worse than white trash then thats a label I will wear proudly. Go Annie . Win this for all the white trash out there. Good luck.
oh gosh! Ms. Sarah, can you re-read Annie’s article, why she wasnt an advocate of firing Brande. Please be careful and sure before calling someone annoying and boring, because at this point, you are the most annoying; I am sorry.
I am quite happy to see melissa got fired in the last episode; it was memorable. Now that she is out, the game is truly into shape. I wish Annie Duke all the best to become “The celebrity Apprentice”.
“Cleeeetus”: Annie did the right thing. If you were there you would do the same. There is nothing I see wrong in what she did to protect herself. Annie is honest, intelligent, prudent and very attractive. There are some negative sides though, but I believe her positive qualities are more than the negative ones.
Annie, I’ve watched you play poker many times and I’ve watched you on every episode of the Celebrity Apprentice. You are exactly the kind of person I need in my sales office. You’re tough and smart. Keep it up. I hope you win!
Everyone….it’s a fake reality show with scripts and promts and edits. These people are playing a game. It’s entertainment. Joan Rivers is one of the best “insult” comedians of our time. She is doing her job on Celebrity Apprentice. They all are, some better than others. After watching Annie cooking and letting her grossly inflated ego shine on, if she really is that self-worshiping it made for great entertainment on the show to highlight her ego. And honestly, the way Brande teasingly shoves her tits in the old fart’s faces and bats her eyelashes while using her sexuality so they give her money…well, she’s doing her job too. Afterall, she’s a soft porn nude model. No shock there. Bottom line…it’s a game on TV. It’s all about ratings and entertainment value long before the actual charity aspect comes into play.
I’m shocked the Right Guard people thought having a half-naked man advertise their product in Sports Illustrated was a good idea. I’m sorry Annie, but seeing a naked basketball player doesn’t make me want to wear his deodorant. Just as the men struggled with selling wedding dresses and jewelry, I think this was an example of women not understanding what want. But then again, the Right Guard people liked it, so who knows. Personally, I think that ad would have run better in the Advocate!
Face it – you suck and I hope you lose.
Don’t forget the point that Joan made; that she has known the Vegas crowd for 40 years. They must not have been too bad, they treated her well for many years.
I think those two significantly damaged their reputations, and Joan her legacy, by acting like such trashy losers. Talk about a couple of skanks!
Wow! Guess i can’t ever be famous. To be judged by so many clueless persons is just to much! How can you take it Annie, seriously?
NukeMomma,
you are really dumb – yes it’s edited but it’s not fake
and Joan is a horrible person
Tom says,
“Annie is likely the best-known poker player alive”
ahhhh WRONG ,, I like her and want her to win, but seriously.. all you twits who don’t know schit from apple butter regarding the poker world, should really stop making asses of yourselves.
I think Annie would be the first to admit she knows she’s not the most well known.
Seriously, those who want to insult Annie, just go back to your kitchens and do your dishes then go to Joan’s site and tell her how wonderful she is.
Your marketing intellect is the best part of your brilliance.
Annie, I hope joan comes back next week for one simple reason….to crush americas newest couple “brannie” and beat you in the finals. Joan is way smarter than you and has much better morals. And your playmate buddy will see you for who you are.
Joan+Melissa Rosenberg says…
“Let’s not forget that Melissa is over 40 yrs old. It’s time for her to break away from the apron strings of her mommy”.
Sandy Brown says:
You’re kidding me? THAT GIRL is over forty? Wow! Did you see that hissyfit she threw on the way out the door?…Just like a five year old who had her toys taken away from her.
Yes, I believe she’s about 43 actually, has one child (a son I think) from a very brief marriage- as I said b4, there wasn’t enough room in bed for both a husband and a mother, so the hubby had to go.
Annie, You’re cruel…My husband and I were both watching the show. You’re eyes say it all… You’re a typical poker player – out for yourself only…Stop with the CHarity yack yack yack… It’s another one of your little “I’m such a good person” BS face… Karma sucks Annie…What goes around comes around …Joan Rivers doesn’t care if you like her or not. She’s successful and am sure she isn’t losing sleep over your feelings about her… Just like I don’t give a hoot about what anyone else thinks of me. Bullies like yourself never change… the good thing about this show is how true colors show. And yours my dear are frankly nauseating! Good luck in your poker success – that’s as much of a celebrity you are. Never heard of you before and will most likely never hear of you again! How sad!!! NOT!
Joan+Melissa
Annie today is likely the most well known poker player today among the NON-playing audience.
I don’t know too many non-players that could name more than 1 or 2 poker pros.
Other than Annie.. which player has ever had this much mainstream exposure in prime time?
Joan + Melissa,
NEWS FLASH: The vast majority of people don’t care about poker. Sorry.
Your tiny minority can feel all proud you know the players who are totally obscure to the rest of the world.
BEST KNOWN means the one who is known by more people. Not the one who is known by a tiny group of self-important losers.
“Joan+Melissa Rosenberg says:

NukeMomma,
you are really dumb – yes it’s edited but it’s not fake and Joan is a horrible person”
LOL….if you don’t think these stars get suggestions and are prompted and encouraged to act out you need to contact Dr. Phil. It’s a game, period. Trump thinks with his penis half the time. His decisions are mostly subjective and at his whim. He wallows in the ratings game. Voting Melissa off based on 3 old tasks that required fund raising instead of looking specifically at the current deoderant task and performance speaks volumes. Jim and Donnie were so fixed on Brande’s tah-tahs they forgot she did a crap job as PM. Yeah, call me dumb.
You got a big mouth. But I like you better then Melissa.
In response to John D.
Maybe here ideas were not as good but right off the bat Annie decided what they were going to do and Brande went along with it. Talk about someone who has just been sliding by on her good looks!
We only heard some of the ideas she threw out – who knows maybe there were better ones. The whole point of this show is that it’s supposed to be a team effort, but with Annie on any team, it’s all about what she decides its best. That has been the complaint from other on both teams.
It’s obvious she wants to prove something and I think it’s sad.
I agree that cutting Trump off was probably not a good idea, but the man is a moron. He was gunning for Brande because he realiazed that she was innefective as the PM but when Melissa interrupted then he changed her mind.
I honestly have no respect for Trump – his decisions are based on emotions and not facts.
People are taking this show way too seriously. It’s just a game. Sure, it involves raising money for charity, but no matter who wins the money goes to a good cause. Annie is a good person and all she tried to do on the show is win the game, which I totally respect.
People seriously need to take a chill pill. They also need to stop insulting poker players. It’s completely uncalled for.
Let’s face it, of the front-runners, Annie’s had it easiest. I mean how hard is it to compete against Melissa and Brande in the boardroom? Donald’s throwing her softballs.
I don’t think she has any reason to gloat the way she’s been doing.
I really liked Annie before the show, but the whole ‘poker players are great because they have a lot of money to give to charity’ thing is getting old.
I wish she had taken the high road in the game.
Annie, you are disgusting on this show. You come across as manipulative and cold-hearted. I so wanted you to get fired & don’t begrudge Melissa for throwing a fit. I have to admit it: this stupid game is no longer legitimate, is way too long (2 hrs/episode), and keeps the worse players (either technically inadequate or lacking in character). I can’t believe I’m this furious and only watched the last 30 minutes. I give up on the show.
Ari, like you say the show is edited. How do you know it was right off the bat? Maybe they discussed it for an hour. Annie is very competitive, and I really doubt if melissa came up with a good idea she would have turned it down. That wouldn’t be smart, with only 3 people on the team, everybody is at risk. The smart play there is to go for the win. And if you notice, people whine about all kinds of things in interviews, but even when her team loses, annie never gets called into the boardroom. If she’s causing all these problems and not a team player, why don’t they bring her in?
Annie seems like a smart, savvy person, but moreover she’s done the research. She knows what works and doesn’t on this show, and she tries to share that knowledge with the others to
help them, that’s the essence of being a team player. But often they don’t seem interested because they don’t care, which is fine, but own it, don’t act like a toddler and get personal.
This is a TV game show. She doesn’t need to
prove anything, she’s competitive. When competitive people enter contests they try to win using the best strategy available. What’s sad is when people make way more of it than it is and start getting personal and trying to make a moral crusade out of a show about business strategies.
Sure, trump is an egomaniac and a moron, but dealing with him is one of the perimeters of the game. It doesn’t take a genius to know not to yell at an egomaniac who controls the game. It certainly isn’t annie’s fault melissa didn’t have common sense and ensured she would be fired. Who cares? The point of this is to make money for charity and get exposure. Melissa’s tirade is the kind of behavior reality producers love, she’ll have her own show next.
annie, you’re an ego-maniac with an inferiority complex. get OVER yourself.
God – I know Americans’ are usually ignorant and I know you’re generally unable to follow the most basic of plot lines but to be annoyed at Annie for her actions in this show is entirely stupid.
Annie has come in with a will and want to win. She has come in as a chance to compete against other celebrities, make a name for herself and raise money for charity.
While being hit with personal attack after personal attack after personal attack; you don’t see her cry off. You don’t see her feel she has some great sense of entitlement that means she shouldn’t be hit by such slurs.
Meanwhile Joan referencing Annie and the Nazis – real classy.
Melissa whining every five seconds and being enough of a child to say “Mum.. will you step in here please?” earlier in the contest – real classy.
Annie has played this game picture perfect – in fact, in my esteem she has played it even better than Piers Morgan which surprises me because Piers was such a business minded celebrity.
So far, all I can see are shrinking violets getting upset that Annie is confident, strong minded and happy to express her points.
I wish there were more women in the world like Annie and less in the world like those posting here, talking about Trump making bad emotional decisions.
Trump got rid of Melissa because she was past her used by date and he realised that she had alienated any audience worth having.
Trump kept Brande because she is able to fund raise and hadn’t been disruptive week in, week out across all tasks.
Brande also defended herself by stating she had won tasks previously and was the second highest fund raiser in the game.
Case closed, Trump (for once) made the right call.
Thank christ the Rivers’ are off the show.
I agree with Joan – poker players are trash. So you have a lot of money – you made it playing poker, as if that’s even remotely respectable. What a joke. You think more highly of yourself than you ever should. Who cares how fast you can chop vegetables or that you know some basketball player. Listening to you brag about yourself on the show makes me want to puke. I pity your kids. You’re playing the game right to win, but everyone hates you in the process. How will it be in the end when you throw your dumb bimbo side kick Brande under the bus? It’s not like we’re blind and can’t see how you’re manipulating her. It’s a shame she’s dumber than a sack of bricks.
Nuke Momma, you actually watch that nutjob republican freak who loves Bush, Dr Phil!
god that speaks volumes about you- what is your IQ? can it be counted on your toes and fingers?
and Tom, do you sit on this board 24/7 to answer EVERYONE who comments on here?
I think you do.. I think a lot of people think you do.
how pathetic, seriously! go outside and get some fresh air!
Life’s A Bluff,
I agree after the airing of this reality show that it would be true amongst those who aren’t at all familiar with the world of poker, very true.. after this (and esp after the drama that’s unfolded), yes absolutely her name will go down in infamy whether people liked her or disagreed with her
Annie, I’ve always admired your poker & love watching you play. A friend of mine did a workshop with you in Vegas & talked to you a bit & adored you. My poker group adores you.
But watching you on CA takes it to a whole ‘nother level. You’re wonderful!
Yes you’re a bit bossy. Oh, wait – if you were a guy we’d just call you a rock star player! No, you’ve been amazing. You work hard, smart & tough. You get the job done & it’s been extremely clear that Trump et al have a ton of respect for you.
It looked to me that you were upset & hurt when Joan was yelling at you in the end. We’ve all been there – we know we’re in the right, but it still sucks to be yelled at in that particular way because it makes you feel bad about how stupid the human race can be.
Keep your chin up as usual & keep playin like you’re playin!
Annie, you rock! I’ve always admired your poker & now I admire you here. You’re tough & smart.
Bossy? If you were a man it would be called rock star player.
Trump clearly respects you too!
I love how even on a blog about a tv show some cretinous knuckle dragging hypocrisy spouting moron manages to take a dig at Republicans. Tell me, what does a liberal LEFT WING DEMOCRAT and her LIBERAL LEFT WING daughters obnoxious behavior POSSIBLY have to do with being a ‘nutjob Republican freak’? Seems more to ME to be liberals on crack than badly behaved right wingers….just a thought.
You know, sometimes politics and political affiliations have NOTHING to do with ANYTHING ELSE. Oh, well hey….except that for two years running, a study out of Rutgers says that Republican women are better and more satisfied in bed. Hm, could it have to do with quality Bj’s?
Sheri:
Who pee’d in your cornflakes this morning? Annie is far from stupid. Stupid doesn’t get you into TWO Ivy League schools. What college did you go to?
So because I play poker.. I am trash? How so?
I think all this vitriol towards poker players is a direct result of envy and jealousy. It it possible you are mad because you hate your job and/or rely on a 9-5 man? You can’t stand the idea of people playing poker and making a living. In Annie’s case… a GOOD living.
Seems like a lot of these negative comments are coming from women. Perhaps this is just a classic case of woman on woman haterade.
I have only met Annie a few times @ various charity poker tournaments and she has always been nice. Some of her close friends are also close friends of mine and from what I know, she is a GREAT mother. How does one have so many friends if they are a bad person?
It really is one thing to not like Annie but these personal attacks are just ridiculous and without merit.
The character of some of you people is appalling.
Has anyone here ever heard of Doyle Brunson?
Doyle is the heart of poker. Doyle was playing poker before Annie was a sparkle in her mothers eye. He is The Dean of Poker and to anyone who knows even the most basic rudiments of professional poker, clearly the longest tenured and best known player on the planet. And..he’s a GREAT GUY to boot!
John D – I agree with your point that the show is edited and they will portray everyone in whatever light they want.
Others have complained about her outside and in the boardroom but I think they just feel it’s easier to give in to her than hear her whine and act like a brat (yes, she can be bratty). When her name has come up in the boardroom, Trump has always found a way to excuse and protect her.
I know she’s a competitive person and so am I, but I know when it’s time to back off and let others shine. You don’t always have to be the center of attention and unfortunately, that’s exactly what she craves.
Here’s what I think. The Donald knows Annie is exactly as everyone describes her – trouble, self-centered, control freak and an egomaniac (just like him) but she makes for really good TV.
He was probably positioning the game so that Annie and Joan would be the last two standing and the battle they would produce would be “priceless”, making this a really good season for the CA. With Melissa gone and Joan possibly walking out, this will change the game.
Will it be as dramatic with Jesse and Annie as the final two? Maybe not, but I’m betting against her because of her behaviour on the show. I’m all for winning, but my problem is not that she plays to win, is that she’s way too pushy and is disrespectful.
In the end, I hope they raise plenty of money for charity. God knows everyone needs a helping
Peace!!
You people make comments about Trump and Duke being stupid and morons…this is ridiculous! They’re the ones crying all the way to the bank. They’re doing something right. You have to respect them. Donald was born to succeed. Annie was born to win. And, people like this do everything it takes to get what they want. Jealousy anyone? They have a strategy and it works. Annie knows nothing else and she is going to do everything it takes to win just short of breaking the law. (Who knows) She will be a snack in the grass. I bet she will win the Celebrity Apprentice. I would never call her Trailer Trash and Joan Rivers should be ashamed of herself for compaing Annie to Hitler and Buckenwald…Annie’s father is Jewish.
That’s entertainment!
I am glad to see I am not the only one that is not fooled by Annie. Annie’s character is pitiful. She is obviously very insecure and must get credit, however she must – and her way of getting it does remind me of a 7 year old little girl who is in desperate need of attention.
Sunday’s episode, I believe, would have turned out differently if Melissa wouldn’t have cut Trump off. He took it personally. It seemed Ivanka was gunning for Annie…and it seemed the mad money man was zooming in on Brande…then Melissa had to go and blow it.
It was great tv…it’s nice to see ‘celebrities’ (even if they are has beens and want-to-be’s) painted in a human light. I think anyone in the position of Melissa would have lost it. Even though she expected it, she was livid when it came to be…she lost self control completely. Her mom just supported her and stood by her. Again, they are just human beings like you and me. Put yourself in her position. For the record, I’m not a fan of the River’s…I’m just calling it as I see it.
I think Annie is an amazing person, and player. She is a woman who is strong, smart and beautiful. I would rather work with Annie (and Jesse James) than anyone else on the show. I like a person who is blunt, strong-willed and intelligent. But then again, it also takes a strong, intelligent person to handle these traits. Annie represents women in such a positive light. She doesn’t back down. She takes charge, asserting her strengths when appropriate and listening to others when needed. She is so intelligent and confident, yet she also has an amazingly huge heart. She has picked a wonderful charity and she raises children. She can cook, be playful and nuturing yet at the same time be a force to be reckoned with. And she looks DAMN good while doing it! Annie I love you. Out of all the celebrity’s out there, you are the one I would LOVE to have lunch with. Keep rockin it girl!!
I HOPE JOAN WINS
Actually, trump always targets her and tries to get everyone to say she’s controlling to play into NBC always trying to make the smart opinionated woman the villain. It’s actually kind of funny, because they still end up using her thought out, non personal, impartial take on the game even though it undercuts their narrative.
But, NBC knows what they’re doing. They know the dimwitted sheeple of America will viscerally recoil from smart, savvy, opinionated, competitive women who don’t apologize and will construct all kinds of paranoid fantasies about her as if they know her. They know that appearing smart and hard working is somehow scheming and egotistical and evvvvvilll, while throwing glasses and making Hitler comparisons is what we want
I don’t want to be mean, but it’s like some of you don’t know the difference between TV and reality. Yes, there are people I don’t like on reality shows, but at least I know I’m being irrational.
Why would it be easier for anyone to give in to Annie Duke? That makes no sense. This isn’t a real company, an MBA session, or Kumbaya Camp. It’s a competition. If they give in to her when they think her ideas suck, it’s because they’re setting her up to try and throw her under the bus later. They may be selfish, pampered celebrities who don’t like to work like normal people, but I think they’re capable of standing up to someone who has no power over them or else they’d be back in their hometowns pumping gas. This is Celebrity Apprentice, not Lazy Indifferent Pushover.
Back off and let others shine? Again, it’s a competition. They’re trying to win! Again, this isn’t an MBA confidence building Kumbaya session. This is not a real business situation, it’s a fake situation where everybody is out to get everyone else to be the last person standing. Also it’s a TV show. Annie Duke isn’t holding the editor hostage. If they show her a lot, it’s not because she’s holding a gun to their heads. It’s because she makes good TV. She’s been in the background doing grunt work on lots of these tasks, they still show her. That’s not her decision. Everybody gets filmed and edited, but they have no control over what airs. Learn to distinguish reality. These are fake constructed situations that have nothing to do with real life or real business or anything anyone does on a normal basis. Do you understand Survivor or is that too difficult too?
How is she disrespectful, because she didn’t admit she invaded Poland? If you believe that one or two comments in the heat of the moment usually only from Joan and Melissa means Annie is terrible, then how about the fact that Trump constantly says that Melissa is obnoxious and everyone hates her? Does that maybe give some insight into the fact that out of 100 an hours a week filmed they have enough footage to spin anyone how they want? She’s rarely shown acting obnoxious on camera, so is it possible that she’s done things (and people have made lots of comments on it) that never made it to air?
All I can say is Annie never personally attacked Joan or Melissa and that says a lot about her character. I would have decked them both for behaving like the spoiled brats that they are. Two grown women calling Annie names and trying to belittle her. I have lost all respect for Joan Rivers and Melissa. And please no more plastic surgery…. I’m starting to see Michael Jackson in there.
I find it ironic that Joan & Melissa Rivers are effectively accusing Annie & Brande of collusion — while the Rivers women were blatantly colluding in the boardroom, FROM DIFFERENT TEAMS!
Annie, you rock. You’re clearly playing the game several levels higher than the others, and I haven’t seen any behavior from you on the show that needs defending. If there was any footage of you misbehaving, the editors would definitely have shown it.
I also thought it was hilarious that Melissa refused to come back for an exit interview. The producers were probably thinking, “Who cares? This tantrum you’re throwing on camera is ratings GOLD!”
Right, and if she ‘stood back and let others shine,’ then you’d be whining that she’s selfish and petty and childish trying to hold the others back by not helping them (like Jesse this week) or that she’s calculating and actively trying to torpedo the others by holding her big donors for her own tasks (like jesse did last week and Melissa and Joan do every week). Funny how what’s no big deal for Jesse (it’s just a game after all) is a criminal offense for Annie. David and John are dead right.
Annie was the top fundraiser even before she was PM, I wonder if all the other contestants are upset at her for having to be the center of attention by raising all that money for all their charities or if they wish she’d let them step up and lose badly on their own without her help.
Defnition of Annie Duke: Low life. Two-faced; expected from a poker player I guess. Arrogant. User. Liar. Will do anything to win while using “charity” as the excuse – the ultimate in arrogance – and it disgraces your charity! Pathetic human being. We all saw how you and Brande shut Melissa Rivers out of the task – and Brande, beautiful or not, is truly stupid for letting herself be used by the likes of you. A poker player? Certainly not anything to aspire to nor brag about.
I wasn’t watching the show at the time, but I heard my mom watching it in the other room. I’m 17 and interested in poker. Been watching a lot of Poker After Dark and World Series of Poker obviously.
I was aware that you’re in the Apprentice, but I was never really interested in the show…Anyway, I heard Joan say something about poker players, which made me rush over to the living room and go “Noo! Don’t be mean to Annie Duke
. WHAT ARE YOU DOING?”
You and me both know that poker players kick ass. Don’t get frustrated. The nicest people are poker players. Daniel Negreanu is one of my favourite poker players. He’s amusing.
Gambling is fair game. You put your money in for the purpose of winning or losing.
As we’d like to say.. She was on a tilt, lost everything and let her frustration out on the person who just won the big pot.
Ari, are you a very young person who is not acquainted with the way the world works?
Joan didn’t throw a wrench into The Donald’s Master Plan. She’s not doing this show because of a deep desire to become personally acquainted with Scott Hamilton. She’s doing it for attention and publicity.
No one could possibly get so upset about a stupid game unless they’re seriously disturbed. Joan and Melissa probably figured out that their co-dependant Mommy and Me routine was about 40 years out of date, so they decided to spice it up.
Regardless, Joan never met a camera she didn’t want to jump in front of, ask Johnny Carson. She left and got attention, now she’ll return and get still more attention.
There’s no way she won’t be coming back. Please.
