The WSOP is officially underway!

On Thursday I walked into the Rio for my first event of the 2009 WSOP, the $40K buy-in event. I realized this is my 15th year playing the WSOP. Wow! I am so old…ugh!

The $40K didn’t last long for me unfortunately. I was out by dinner break when I donked off my money to Antonio Esfandiari with my top pair against his set. Oops! But here are a bunch of pictures of top pros who came out to sail off for the $40K too. Come to think of it…all these guys got knocked out Day 1 as well. Maybe if I take a picture of you it is bad luck…hmmmmmmmmmmmm….

Antonio Esfandiari...the evil doer who knocked me out then didn't cash! That is Justin Bonomo right next to him on his left. He is chip leader going into Day 3!

Since Antonio knocked me out, freeing up my Friday, I decided last minute to play the $1500 buy-in Omaha 8 or better event. The event got almost 1000 players! A record!  I am starting Day 2 at 2 pm today and I am 30th in chips of 197. Also in good chip position today are Phil Hellmuth, Hollywood Dave, Rafe Furst and Andy Bloch.  Hopefully it will be a good day!

You should win your 2nd bracelet this time. It’s been 5 years, I know you can do it!

    Keep this up Annie!
    The YouTube Videos
As you probably are aware, I’m pursuing at least a part of achieving positive goals by having included you in my own “solication” for “work.”

if there was one thing, at the top of my list, I would love to do with and for you, in and around the poker world, it would be to create SoCooL videos of the many things you do.

However, one can’t replace your own obvious motivations to communicate, including with a flip camera. The quality of that will also continue to improve.

Positive thoughts continue to provide many benefits and will can all benefit from continuing to improve .. one little step at a time.

    WIN A BRACELET !!!

  9. It must take some time to get use to all the noise and people watching you in those big halls. I’m use to the one table, dinning room atmosphere. I get distracted with side conversation at the table. I don’t know if I could handle even a small room with several tables at a tournament. Hats off to all of you for being able to manage all the lights, cameras, action.

Good luck to you Annie. I know you can win a couple of bracelets this year, just be patient. I hope you can make it out to Scotty Nguyen’s tournament in Tulsa this October. I’ll be home from Iraq by then and maybe I’ll get to see you in action.

I’m sitting here giggling at Julie’s comment. Who knew the ‘mafia’ would consist of such handsome men! Oops, forgot intelligent too.

I grew up watching sports. Never had seen a poker game and don’t think I could play. Euchre is more my style. I have to say I love watching poker. I love watching the ‘wheels’ turning in the players’ minds as they think things through. I think I now know more poker players (yep, first and last names) than I do pro players playing the more traditional sports.

Annie – this was my first year at the WSOP and it was a blast. B/c I live in a locale where there are no casinos (sheesh, Texas), I mainly play on-line and do fairly well. I’ve never been to Vegas and not at leasted cashed in a tourney (granted, I am playing $65 buy-ins at the Paris tourneys, but still!). My first ever WSOP trip was disastrous! First, I buy into event #1 and play w/o ever realizing that – hey, I need to be an employee! No matter as I donk out fairly quickly. At any rate, I then proceeded to play several satellites (9 of them to be exact) and failed to cash in one. I was wondering if you’d do a blog entry on how to overcome such losing streaks and bankroll management. My goal is to play poker full time, but it’s tough to do without any casinos around and it’s tough to convince family that maybe this trip was an aberration. Thoughts? Thank you and good luck at the WSOP!

Great finish in the Omaha 8 event! I can just imagine how relieved the players must be when they are “in the money.” What’s your next tournament? GO Annie, GO!!

Too bad Joan Rivers wasn’t there. You could have blamed her.
