What happened after the last boardroom

I know people are wondering how I could go from saying I respected Joan in the last boardroom to the private interview where I said she was not a nice person and she had made the fight personal for me. I am aware it seemed like a weird juxtaposition from the boardroom to the final private interview last episode but here is what happened in between. I tried to extend some sort of “good game” to Joan. Just tell her I respected her for getting to the final two. And the video below is what a got in return. I particularly love where she says “I won’t allow America to hear it.” Makes that last interview of mine make more sense, I think.

Annie – The only reason you tried to engage Joan in this conversation bit is to get her to say more bad things about Poker players etc … there is ABSOLUTELY no other reason. As Joan said, there is no reason for you to be best friends. When she says stop, you should stop. Instead you were playing mind games with her so you can tell your “poker player” friends how much you care about them.

The truth is all you care about is YOURSELF and YOU winning money for YOUR charity so YOU can show what a good person YOU are … it was clear by the way you talked to that other “friend” in an earlier episode when he was tricked by your opponent to contribute to the opposing side. It was clear from the comments about how you made Melissa & Brande fight with each other in the episode with the three of you.

You may have tricked a few dumb followers of yours but I didn’t know you before the show and I can see that I did not loose much by not knowing you earlier.

Let’s be clear, I am not a Joan Rivers follower either nor do I think it is right for her to fall into your trap and call you by those awful names but she is 76 years old … she can hardly control her bowel movements let alone her tongue which has been wagging for so many years. By ignoring and excluding and some times insulting a capable contributor like Melissa, you clearly miscalculated that Joan would crash and die by getting her enraged. Glad that Trump saw thru your schemes.

Wouldn’t it be nice, if some years down the line, you come on the Celebrity Apprentice with one of your children and there is a smarter player on the opposing team who tried to get to you by taunting and demeaning your child? Don’t know about Joan but Karma is a bitch and it will get to you one day.

  2. Jeff says:

It was all a publicity stunt Annie, ratings won!

That has-been, stretched to the limit, (oh please, I wasn’t talking about her face) old bag Joan “cry me a” Rivers was used to get ratings, period. She brought in the gays, the old bags, and the face lift survivors to watch the show. This economy is killing Donald Trump too – this is one of the only businesses he has making money…if he fired Joan he’d piss off old people, the gays (who support his Miss America)and might have lost his renewal for the Apprentice. Joan said that “Clint Black’s ego was so big that when he went to a bar he’d pick up himself”..she really meant Donald Trump’s ego!

PS Joan’s face has been stretched so many times it now has time zones!

  3. Angie says:

I agree on the celebrity showings on the last task.. I seen but one celebrity that was Kathy Griffin another not so well liked comedian in America. Annie had way more celebrities. A much classier VIP setup of a room as for Joan’s room looked like a 5 yr olds birthday party. Melissa Rivers please put this crazy psycho woman in a home already!

  4. Rick says:

Joan is a TV persona…nothing more, nothing less. She purposely made herself the Omarosa of this season. One thing she didn’t realize is that America really didn’t want to see more of Omarosa after the first season, except possibly to get her butt kicked around. I’m not sure what Joan’s strategy for appearing class-less in front of America is…except that maybe at her age she only cares about making money, even if as a villian.

  5. MikeG says:

    Annie,
By any measure you’re the true winner in this. Even with the prize money added to what Joan raised your charity comes out the winner. She seemed to act like a spoiled child not letting you say things etc. You acted professionally and with integrity and your charity should be proud to have you as a sponsor.

    Mike

  6. Roseanne says:

Annie, you got screwed and weren’t even kissed. You should have won. Joan is the liar. I do think you are very self-centered, though and tended to take all the credit when your team won, but you did deserve to win that competition. How does this effect me? Two extra hours on Sunday. I will no longer watch The Donald’s shows. They are not even close to reality.

  7. Sandy says:

It is obvious to me that by asking me to moderate my orginal comments there is no truth allowed on the internet. Annie should have won. Some of us know what Joan Rivers is really like. The fix was in,no matter what Annie did. Melissa Rivers would never have made it in Show Business without her mother. Nepotism will always be alive and well in Show Business!!!! Good Luck Annie, you deserve it.

  8. A. Simmons says:

    You were robbed.

I’m not mad at Trump or anything. He does what he does and he won’t be affected one way or the other. I’m done watching his show. It’s a joke.

If you outearn Joan Rivers by nearly $300,000, I seriously doubt her party was better attended or had more visible celebrities. That’s just a rubbish judgment call by Trumpe and his children.

One thing I will say is that prior to this I wasn’t really a fan of Joan or Melissa, but I didn’t think ill of them either. But now I don’t care for either one and hope they both suffer the karmic fate they deserve.

They were unprofessional, as fake as their faces, and utterly lacked the class and honor they claimed to have. Their attacks on you were unwarranted and I respect Trump less for not seeing through Joan’s fake veil.

Then again, Trump is from New York. He’s probably used to seeing plastic surgery disasters amongst the rich, bored wives of his peers.

Trump isn’t a man to be taken too seriously anyway. The guy is patronizing and has a veneer of false sincerity himself developed over all those years of wheeling and dealing over the table. He definitely knows how to play the crowd, which is what he did.

I hope the ratings for Celebrity Apprentice tank hard after his ludicrous and contradictory choice of Joan Rivers. Pathetic judgment call by Trumpe and I hope he pays the price for his bad decision.

  9. Peggy says:

    Annie,

You were so robbed! It’s all been said already, but for the love of Pete, Trump and Rivers are both complete washed up losers.

You won. In the eyes of the world. No one is fooled. Trump may think the world is full of idiots – the real idiots are those that play and sign on with the DumbDonald. His kids are milquetoast.

GO Annie! You have 2 new fans in Orange County, CA.

  10. Phyllis says:

We all felt that the fix was in from the beginning. Joan could do no wrong in Trump’s eyes. Whatever shocking statements Joan made were perfectly acceptable to Trump. The final straw was when they changed the rationale for winning the competition to subjective results rather than clear cash.
I still am at a loss as to why Trump says that you had an advantage in raising money over Joan Rivers. Isn’t she the 80-year-old darling of entertainment? It just proves to you how many people she has burned in the process of clawing her way up—or down—to where she is. She and her daughter proved what rubbish they are with their screaming over Melissa’s firing. Most of the people I know who watch the show felt that it was unfair to even let her return. Trump fired poor Chloe for a DWI and let this filthy mouthed harridan appear again on his show.
After this season, I don’t think that I will watch the show again because of the blatantly unfair treatment they showed to you.

  11. Jim says:

After 3 days I’m still flustered. Win or not win, you’re not the one booted by Johnny Carson – ‘cmon THAT

  12. tom trainor says:

what a sad pr exercise the final apprentice turned out to be,i could’nt believe the fawning of donald trump.in an overall exercise you nailed it and with comments like pit vipers it was plain to see where the venom was coming from.i know donald trump is a businessman but i seriously believe there was some serious backroom deals being made.still you maintained yourself well and held the decorum and honor that joan mentioned several times on camera, she certainly knew how to play the camera,i could almost hear the machine whirring on the back of her neck making her face cry.You stood straight and proud it was a shame to see the wrong person win.good luck with all your future endevours and well done for your charity cheers tom

  13. Don B says:

YOU SHOULD HAVE WON!!! You are right about what you said that any other “regular” person would be hit with a law suit or drug into human resources if they said even half of what Joan said. And her daughter’s behavior after being canned was unbelievable. What was on the note that Donald passed to Kramer? My guess was I need the ratings so let’s have a catfight between Annie & Joan!!!

  14. laura says:

    Annie,
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I knew you’d lose!!!! My favorite part was when you brought your hands up as Trump said your name, like you thought he was going to say you won -watch it if you don’t remember.
    =)

  15. gldulost says:

Actually Annie, I am really glad you lost. Like Joan said you are so full of yourself it’s sickening. There is no I in TEAM. You were probably not chosen because you have no idea on how the manage a group. Your arm must be really sore from patting yourself on the back so much.

  16. Cody Krake says:

Trump and NBC should be ASHAMED of cheating Annie Duke of the
Celebrity Appentice title. She consistently won !! She also raised
the most money in the final auction which is the most important thing
in an auction. She was the only one to integrate the charity message
in the Kodak frames – even the kodak exec said that. One Dennis Rodman
is greater than a million fake celebrities. Annie was a winner throughout
and should have been declared the winner. Trump – u r the biggest cheat!!!

  17. gldulost says:

By the way it was great watching your reaction when you THOUGHT you won and didn’t. HAPPY TO SAD!!

  18. Sue says:

You got screwed, Annie. It was kind of obvious that Trump was carrying Joan on a pillow. All that crap talk about her energy, that wasn’t what the game was about, who cares? She and Melissa showed their true colors. Melissa is a spoiled tantrum throwing, pouting little priss. Joan is a vicious, mean, ugly person. If she still performs I hope Vegas and Atlantic City will no longer book her. Can’t believe she thinks she’s so much better than you. She certainly showed the world what a low class person she really is. Annie, you are the winner, hands down ! ! !

  19. a big annie fan! says:

    Annie,

You are beautiful! Seriously, what you said about Joan not getting away with that behavior in the real business world was right on, and you should have won, without a doubt. Thank you for raising so much money for charity and for being so much more than a pampered star during this season. I always have admired you as a poker player, but now I admire you as a business woman too. And did I mention you’re beautiful???

    –Brian

  20. mertz says:

don’t mind the haters annie. you’re a winner to many people for coming on to this show and playing for your charity. you’ve played one of the best games i have ever seen on tv and on CA. goodluck with everything!

  21. Nipper says:

Annie was by far the clear winner. I watched the entire season and although Annie did take a lot of the credit, she also deserved a lot of the credit and on the last task she so very clearly won! Joan and Melissa are absolute jokes. I will never watch anything they are part of or buy anything they are selling. I am very disappointed in Donald Trump….he made a huge mistake! Annie, be proud of yourself~

  22. Steve Conry says:

Wow, i watch this (as a poker player myself) and i still cant help but support Joan. Sure, she says some pretty ridiculous shit when she gets flustered, but at least she seems like a genuine person at heart. Annie, on the other hand, sucks. She’s narcissistic, self-centered, and obnoxious!

Annie, stop pointing out how Joan targets all poker players to deflect the fact that she hates you. We all know she doesn’t really think we’re all white trash and mafioso… SHE JUST HATES YOU. And guess what… SO DO WE.

Why? Well to start, you have a fucking website for yourself… And from what i can tell, you use it solely to try to salvage and maintain your image.

But we all watched the damn show, and although Joan was out of line here and there, she had you pegged. Maybe you didn’t “lie” persay, but you sucked nonetheless.

I’m bored. But Annie, if you get a minute, watch an episode a count how many times you say the word “I” and in what context you use it. It is clear that no matter how much you build yourself up and deflect Joan’s criticism onto other poker players, you are hurt by what she has to say. And there’s really only one reason why… because even you don’t believe the bullshit that comes out of your mouth.

Quit acting like we all took offense to that shit. Sure, some people who didn’t see the conflict progress might have taken offense due to lack of context, but those who kept up with the show see right through you. “You can talk shit about me all you want, but when you start talking about my friends…”

BULLSHIT. She’s talking about you… and she’s right!

  23. Shelby Stone says:

Annie – By losing, you became a winner with millions of people who had watched your performance throughout the entire season. What a ripoff. NBC and Trump should beg for your forgiveness for rigging the show.

  24. Sandy Dunwoody says:

ANNIE – YOU ARE AWESOME, BEAUTIFUL and the BEST CELEBRITY CONTESTANT TO GRACE THAT SHOW !!!!!!!!!!

    U R THE GREATEST EVER !!!!!!!!!!!

  25. Henry D says:

I AM DONE WATCHING the show forever. His ratings will go down the next season….

  26. Sue O. says:

You should have won! Your speech about how this would not have happened in any other boardroom was great! You should be proud of yourself and the way you handled Joan’s attacks.

  27. Bill says:

Annie, to say that you were ripped off would be an understatement. My only thought is that you showed everyone on that show too much respect.
Piers Morgan showed a double standard by backing Rivers when he would have walked out on her nonsense. And Trump kissed her booty and allowed the same double standard to apply. The show is about making the most money for charity and you crushed the competition. I am finished watching that piece of garbage show and have lost all respect for Joan Rivers, Trump and Morgan. Nobody is “beneath” her. Give me break. Trump has always seemed to make the right decision but, in this case, he was dead dead wrong. Anyway, Annie, you are one terrific woman and I hope to meet you someday. God Bless. You are a class act…………Bill

  28. Christy says:

I agree, this was a total publicity stunt and I lost all respect for Trump when he crumbled under the celebrity pressure. I have lost all respect for the show and I’m embarrased at the way Joan and Melissa acted. I’m embarrased that your entire profession was attacked and noone – especially Mr. Trump did not stand up for you. Trump is scared of Joan Rivers and needs her on his celebrity side. That is the only reason she won. You did a great job Annie and anyone who has half a brain knows that you were the clear winner.

  29. Kathryn says:

Annie, you should have won without a doubt! Joan the “role model” was simply out-classed and out-performed in every way. I have watched every episode of the Celebrity Apprentice but I will refuse to watch another episode. NBC, you are slipping – first Jay and now this!

  30. Patrick Florian says:

This was so rigged it is not even funny. And Trump dipped very low when he lead Annie on, saying Annie, you know what’s going to happen now, right (or what I am going to say)… Annie says no, I have no idea… Trump says Annie… you’re fired, Joan, you’re hired. It was an unnecessary move by Trump. He knows it was fixed, and he was trying to get Annie to say she lost first, so it would appear the fix wasn’t in…. what a jerk and Joan is crazy / the worst.

  31. writerwill says:

Donald Trump is a hypocrite. All he talks about is money it is even in his theme song for the show. Every show tells us how rich Donald is and why it is so good to be him yet in the last challenge he makes the charity amount worth one fifth. Why? Because that old hag Joan Rivers has no friends and Trump knew she would get decimated, which she did. I won’t watch the next apprentice because it is so obvious that it was rigged. How is having a bunch of drag queens at a party a fun event even Trump said they were creepy. One extra note, Annie looked hot in the show and always kept her cool.
Great job Annie we love you.

  32. Leia says:

I am surprised at some of these negative comments about you. Last year, Piers Morgan won. He was hated by everyone on his teams. No one liked him and he worked for himself. He even told The Donald that the game was about making the most money and he made the most money and it wasn’t about being the most liked or being fair and playing nice. Piers won the game last year, not by being liked, not by being fair, but making the most money.

I, too, feel that The Donald and the Producers of the show made sure that the winner would be Joan Rivers way before the last segment. The show is rigged and I will never watch it again. I also will never purchase a Trump book again, either.

You were robbed of being the winner.

  33. Christy says:

Annie, you handled yourself SO well in the face of incredibly ridiculous behavior from Joan and her daughter. I would not have had your restraint.

I WAS a fan of Joan Rivers, but now I see how caustic, spiteful, and petty she can be. I was shocked by her poor behavior and cruel words. It actually made me think again about her husband’s suicide many years ago and what may have motivated it.

I also think Joan had so few “friends” to contact for donations because her caustic behavior and personality drove them away! The same goes for Melissa.

I think you should have been “hired,” but you’re a winner anyway, and your charity is MUCH better off because of your efforts. Man, did you play the game! You DOMINATED it! Wow!

    Best of everything to you!

  34. Bryon says:

I see my comment was deleted…it just proves my point. Annie, you are very self-centered and so in love with yourself. Good sportsmanship is obviously not a quality you strive for. You are really a joke…just a joke…along with most of the people leaving comments.

  35. Bill F. says:

Hey Annie, Forget A cigarette, I bet you smoked a cartoon after the royal screwing you got in the board room. Like Pierce, last year, you had that game won hands down!!! I got $1000 that says Joan pulled her teeth out and crawled under trumps desk a few times to pull out that win. You did GREAT!!!!

  36. Brandon says:

Annie I was so crushed to see you go :(
Only Trump knows why he hired Joan, because it wasn’t from a business perspective!
Trump was soooo subjective, it was disgusting.

Her whole career is based on vulgarity! She’s someone you lose respect for very QUICKLY. No wonder she had a hard time finding people from the real world the support her. Not everyone can have loving, loyal people fly from the opposite end of the country to give you crazy amounts of money, at the very last moment to support you. That says a lot. Your intelligence, quick wit, endless resources, your attention to DETAIL, all phenomenal. Annie you’re the best!

You still won. You’re an amazing person.

  37. Susie Martin says:

I have to say I am actually inspired to play Poker. You make it appealing. It will actually play to your advantage that you did not win. Because in the end, you will be the bigger winner.

  38. Char Robles says:

Annie my dear- YOU WON. Trump really made himself look stupid for choosing Joan. I think he feels he can get more publicity out of her or something. I don’t know. But he was cheesy before and now even more so. Hands down, YOU WON.
    Great game.

  39. Jen says:

Annie, Joan is crazy. You should have won.

  40. Jake says:

Annie you are an idiot and a show-off!!
You may not have said stuff about others in the boardroom, but you did in the interviews throughout the show.

  41. Art A says:

Annie, you should have won, my wife said she is finished with the Apprentice, after that fiasco.
This is the order I believed you should have pic’d your helpers. Brande, then Jessie, then Mellissa, better to keep your enemy’s close. Put Mellissa in a corner somewhere, and the three of you get it done. Picking Mellissa would have thrown Joan for a loop.

  42. Liz Lyon says:

My take is that Annie can read other people to a certain degree but is remarkably self unaware/unconscious. Trump tried to take you down a peg by showing you that you didn’t read him accurately. Also, he prefers Joan’s celebrity to hawk his brand and he is more confident that she won’t go off the reservation while doing it. Annie confuses assertiveness with aggression, the former being positive. Abrasiveness, manipulativenss are not professional. Toughness is.

  43. Angela says:

You won in our eyes. I would have killed that liar and she was a pity pick period. He allowed her to sit and lie, she didn’t win, not in my eyes or anybody elses I know. You are our winner!!!!

  44. Judi says:

Annie: You showed tremendous class even tho surrounded by very classless people you still maintained dignity and decency. What a complete waste of a finale – Trump wanted to pit you and Joan against each other for the ratings. Jesse James should have played against you. Trump chose Joan to make “better tv” I will not watch his show again after such an unfair farce. I have never written in before but I am so appalled by the way you were treated. Good luck you were the winner by a country mile.

  45. Tangi Barnett says:

OH MY GOD…Joan Rivers is a monster. She is sooo below you Annie. After being a number one fan of the Apprentice since it began, I will never watch again. Joan and her name calling should not have been let back on the show after she walked off when her baby left. That was the sickest thing I’ve ever seen. And the comment she made to you “your a poker player”. Well excuse me if it’s so wrong to make a living playing poker instead of standing up a putting people down. You are the winner by far. Donald is a fool…

  46. Annie, my husband & I believe you were robbed. The fix was in: Donald Trump set you up in favor of his friendship with Joan Rivers. Your honesty & integrity was no match to the phony plastic faced Rivers’ women, and we are proud of you for not sinking to their gutter trash level. You’ll always be a winner to us, and the majority of the American people. Just read the message boards. People are really ticked off because Joan’s charity is a Trump charity. Honey, they set you up, but at least your charity collected a tidy sum in the process. God Bless!!

  47. Jim Sprague says:

Annie, you are still an amazing person.
You were obviously ambushed. They changed the rules for the final contest because they knew you were going to raise more money than Joan and they wanted to give Trump enough room to pick her. They gave her a much more sympathetic video for her charity – Joan doing this, Joan doing that, American citizens sick and dying. She’s NY and you’re Las Vegas. She’s an old, old struggling “star” and you’re in your heyday!
If they had realistically judged it the same way they did for Piers Morgan (only 4 categories and fund-raising the major factor), then you would have won hands down but they couldn’t let that happen. They had encouraged Joan to become dramatic and over-the-top because she needed the publicity and the show needed some fireworks in order to get renewed. It was so blatant that it was pathetic.
You did GREAT, Lady!!! Everyone her in San Diego believes in you. Hold your head high and keep flashing that million dollar smile.
    Thanks.

  48. scott r says:

I too am disgusted with the way this thing turned out. When people run out of legitimate arguments, they turn to personal attacks. It was abundantly clear to me that Joan had no REAL ammunition to use against you, so she resorted to personal attacks against you and your friends. I was absolutely astounded that she got away with all the things she said and you were 100% correct, she’d have been canned in ANY other board room in the country for those comments. The fact that you kept your cool shows that you are worthy of the title of Celebrity Apprentice. I think the majority of others, myself included, would have totally gone off on Joan instead of sitting there and taking it. Shame on Joan for her actions. It showed me TRULY what kind of person she is.

I guess that Joan doesn’t know that Poker is the fastest growing sport/game/past-time in the USA. So she reeeeally offended a lot of people with her “you’re a poker player” -type derogatory statements. It was very clear that you have some of the best friends in the world, who came to your aid at a moment’s notice, whereas Joan’s friends abandoned her in her hour of need. That says so much about BOTH her AND your character. A person is judged by the company they keep. The company joan keeps is the type of fair weather friend that we’ve all had, the ones who are there when THEY need something, but never there when YOU need something. But YOUR friends, Annie, these so called “mafiosi white trash poker players” gave hundreds of thousands of their OWN money to charity to support their friend. I can’t think of a more glowing endorsement of you than that. Your friends love you so much that they give some of their very livelihood to you. Absolutely amazing. Poker players are obviously excellent people with very kind and generous hearts.

I am not sure that it was rigged from the beginning, but I have my suspicions that in order for Joan to come back on the show (after she walked off with that snotty little daughter of hers), she made them promise her a win. I do not think that is above Joan at all, such blatant cheating. It’s very obvious that lying is a tool she uses frequently, so cheating is just a lateral move for her. The fact that trump and joan were/are friends also makes me wonder if there was any chance for you at all (my guess is that there wasn’t). I know I am done with the show forever. When they can give such a reward to a vile, lying, manipulative cheater, I have lost all respect for the show.

Thank you for acting so calm, cool and collected in the face of such adversity. It shows that you are an amazing woman who deserves all the respect in the world. I was a fan of your poker strategy since the first time I saw you on tv, but now I am a fan of you as a person. Well played Annie, well played.

    -sr

  49. Tim says:

    You gave them hell…great job.

The obvious winner hands down. You did everything professionally to a tee.

I was proud to see that at least one celebrity even had any realistic work ethic at all. Bang up job.
    -Tim

  50. ad says:

Thrilled that you lost. You are arrogant to the extreme and you and Brande DID conspire to shut out Melissa Rivers. Thankfully, it was there for all the world to see – then to see you so pathologically deny it as did Brande. You win at the Poker table but your a loser because of your total lack of character. By the way, who knows poker players other than other poker players? No one! Never heard of you.
