+R.I.P. Michael Jackson
The news of Michael Jackson’s death is so shocking. I think in recent years it has been so easy to take shots at him. I know I had kind of forgotten how amazing he was before he morphed into the individual so far removed from the Michael Jackson we used to know. A few months ago I was randomly looking at YouTube videos and I started watching old clips of Michael Jackson dancing. I was so entranced I stayed up past 3 am just watching video after video. He was truly amazing. What really struck me about the videos was how well his dancing holds up. Watching him from 25 years ago the moves still look incredibly modern. Michael was popping and locking before anyone even had a name for it. Back when the Solid Gold Dancers were the height of popular dance, Jackson was 25 years ahead of his time.
So, in memory of Michael Jackson, here are a few of my favorites from that night a few months ago.
And for old times sake:
RIP Michael! I so agree — he was the king of pop.
R.I.P! I can’t stop crying for half an hour!
No words for it! ….
RIP MIKE

Thanks for sharing these memories.
The world has lost an extremely talented performer and we are saddened by his untimely death. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family & children.
Those are amazing Annie. Thank you so much. They gave me chills just watching them. I will never forget him, my first record I ever owned was Thriller. Such a legend.
A light went out in the world today. I was getting a rare opportunity to know Michael Jackson up close and he was a gentle, kind man. Unfortunately, that new relationship was cut short and I am deeply saddened. His music will live on forever–it is timeless. Long live the King of Pop.
I love the songs Beat It and Billie Jean, but one of my favorites by Michael Jackson is “Earth Song” http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xsocd_michael-jackson-earth-song-st_business
Thanks for posting these Annie. Nothing but fond memories here of Mike. He is entertainer of all time. I remember watching the Thriller VHS in a crowded day room in a military barracks in early 1984. We were cheering. That video ran continously for hours. RIP Michael Jackson
In celebration of this life, it was heard today that Michael was one of the few people in our time that could go to any Country in the world and sell out any venue. Say what you will about him, his achievements and the love he had for the world will be missed. I can only hope to affect a micro fraction of those he affected. How do you have a funeral service for such a person as Michael? Closing down L.A. and inviting the world would be a start. This will be more than a National Service, as like it or not, Michael was a globally recognized person. For he touched hearts, probably even yours at one time or another. That is what I will remember him for.
hi annie. thanks for this. i’m not crying, not because i didn’t love micheal jackson or his talent, but because i am so sad. i knew this was inevitable but i never thought i would be alive to see this day really. death is such a sad thing…for all of us. i never had the oppertunity to see him live, ever, and all the records we have of him are my dad’s vynils he had when he and mike were groing up (they’re around the same age), so although i never personally knew micheal i definately grew up with his music, and his dancing, his production, just his talents in general. everywhere in the world everyone knows micheal jackson and now everyone will remember this day. although he was mired in a lot of bad he also brought a lot of good to many people. i don’t like to idolize people and put them on a pedastole but what i do realte to him about is his human-ness. RIP to him. i am happy that although i am not of his time i had to oppertunity to grow up with his talents. god bless him. he was just human like you and me, flawed and imperfect but lived life. we are all blessed to be alive. that’s what i will remember about today. in shock. seize the day. RIP to farrah, mcmahon, etc…i’m crying somewhere in my being.
I was SHOCKED when I heard about Michael Jackson death yesterday! I believe he was a kind and gentle man who was miss represented and was taken advantage off because of his fame and fortune. I do believe his father is to blame. Do to his greed for cash, he pushed his kids especially Michael to perform. He defiantly missed his childhood! I hope where ever he is, he is the child he always wanted to be! RIP my friend!
Thanks so much for posting these. I had a good cry. He was such an amazing talent. Now he is gone. So those who choose to continue to judge and condemn him really should just let it be.
An icon. The most incredible talent. Someone who broke down racial barriers throughout the world. But, sadly someone who lived and died a very lonely man. The Michael at the end was not the Michael who did all of the above mentioned things. Michael lived and died much the same way as Elvis at the end. Ironic? Maybe, but we need to take a look at how we idolize these celebrities and make them prisoners of their own success. I loved the music, the talent, and even the man, but not the behavior and issues he was drowning in. RIP MJ.
He was really artistic and he had alot of creativity i would rate him a 5 star for he was some one very special.
