An Open Letter to PokerStars
As many people in the poker community are aware, Daniel Negreanu recently called me a f**king c**t in an interview. In case you haven’t seen it, the interview is here.
It is no secret that Daniel and I don’t like each other. But this is not about whether he has valid reasons to dislike me. This is not about whether he is right or I am wrong in the particular argument that spurred the comment. This is about treating people with respect and the use of a word that is abusive and demeaning to all women.
When I saw PokerStars’ response to a customer who wrote in to complain about Daniel’s remarks, I was alarmed. (Read her letter here). Here is the response:
Hello ________,
Thank you for your email.
We are glad to hear that you are enjoying the Women’s Poker League and value
very much as one of our loyal female poker players.
Daniel and Annie are both passionate about poker, and both aren’t afraid to
speak their mind. I think this is a fact people like and appreciate about
both players. When you have two people that are similar in that regard,
there’s bound to be friction somewhere along the line.
Although Daniel Negreanu is a Team PokerStarsPro, he is an entity to himself
and as such will always be encouraged to express his views and speak his
mind as he would otherwise do so, PokerStars Pro or not.
I hope you will still enjoy watching both Daniel and Annie play as both are
fantastic poker players and an enrichment, on one way or another, for the
poker world.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions and
thank you for choosing PokerStars.
Regards,
Katja

I am shocked that PokerStars didn’t even distance themselves from Daniel’s comments in this response. In fact, they did quite the opposite. The most alarming part of the response is this section:
…and as such will always be encouraged to express his views and speak his
mind as he would otherwise do so, PokerStars Pro or not.
I am not offended by Daniel’s opinion. He has a right to disagree with me and dislike me. And I, just like PokerStars, would encourage him to express his views and opinions. This is not about his views. It is about a particular word he chose to express those views. The word “c**t” is not an opinion, it is an abusive epithet, and PokerStars is completely ignoring the use of that term in their response.
But more distressing is the use of the word encouraged here. So, PokerStars, you are encouraging Daniel to continue to express views in this manner, to conduct these public attacks using offensive slurs and inappropriate language? I am more than dismayed that PokerStars is making a statement here that they encourage this kind of behavior, this kind of language use. According to PokerStars, this kind of behavior enriches our community.
Why is it, then, that if you type the word into the chat box on PokerStars it comes out ****? Clearly, PokerStars finds this word offensive enough that they don’t allow their customers to use it to insult one another, yet they encourage their primary endorser’s use of the term.
So I have a question for PokerStars: Are you equally encouraging and accepting of Daniel expressing his own opinions and views if he utters the equivalent Anti-African American, Anti-Semitic or Anti-Gay epithets? Is it just the c-word that is okay with you? In my opinion, comments that are degrading to a person’s race, color, gender or sexual orientation are offensive and do not fall under the “that’s his opinion, not ours” category.
PokerStars recently formed The Women’s Poker League, presumably to support and encourage women in poker. Yet this response condones its star player calling a female poker player a “f**king c**t” in public. PokerStars had an opportunity here to take a stand and express regret that Daniel would say such an offensive thing and failed to do so.
I am curious as to what the NFL’s response would be if one of their players uttered that word to or about a female reporter. I am curious as to what Nike’s response would be if that player were an endorser of theirs. Would the NFL and Nike just shrug it off and say “his opinion, not ours?” I think not, and as long as the poker community is accepting of behavior and language like this, we will never be truly mainstream.
Again, this is not at all about whether you like me or whether you are on Daniel’s side of an argument. This is about PokerStars condoning an offensive term spoken publicly about me to a journalist by PokerStars’ biggest endorser. Like it or not, PokerStars, Daniel represents you and his behavior and choice of words reflects on you.
I would have expected a better response.
Annie Duke
Annie, it seems that there are people trying to make this bigger than it should, if a person calls you something like c***, you go and talk to them. You dont call his boss to try and get him fired, claiming that he is attacking an entire community (women poker players). If he has a problem with you, then go and see him about it. I did not read where he said “I as Pokerstars image” think that Annie Duke is this a c***.
Did he made a mistake, YES, that is a terrible thing to say.
Now, is “Katja PokerStars Support Team” the authority to make a statement on behalf of PokerStars? I guess not. You should get a reply from a manager or supervisor at least.
This is what I gather, big fan of yours and Daniel.
Daniel made a mistake, and YOU are making a fool out of yourself by blowing it out of proportion.
Little Annie, STFU already. The word is a word is a word…nothing more. If you take offense to it then your mind is feable. If I smash my hand with a hammer I may yell that word out…am I degrading women…no its a general term to describe something horrible. Is it offensive to say that you need to take a shit….these words are nothing more then swears…or even…just words. Now what we would like to know is how you can be associated with a thieving site like UB. Regarding pokerstars…he has a right to say what he wants when he wants…by you asking pokerstars to do something is in effect asking pokerstars to treat danny boy like a slave and control his thoughts and expressions…so I guess in reading your response you are in favor of slavery!!!
Grow up and stfu and just fade away already….
haha, Daniel can say watever he wants….. get over it and win a tourney…..
You are an incredibly hypocritical woman Ms. Duke. The site you so proudly represent, has been, and continues to be rife with scandal, you have been involved in a number of questionable at best situations aside from that. Your boyfriend taking down 266k ring any bells? You are constantly being chastised for your public behaviour toward other players, dealers etc. And you have the gall to try and publicly dress down D.N. You are a pathetic creature. And oh,btw I played on your joke of a site before the scandals, and I was never reimburse a dime..Crawl back into your sanctimonious hole.
Whatever Daniel thinks of you, what purpose does it serve to use such foul language in a public interview?
I don’t think Pokerstars, the Church, or his own Mother condone such behaviour.
wow that all i can say pro or no pro that is way out of line and shame on pokerstars for sticking up with him,
am i shocked about poker stars no they are at the bottom of the online poker world if you ask me and realy should have to stand one time when there in the wrong but they wont so when if you want a great place to come play poker and win some cash and yes even talk live on are ventrilo that your kids can hear becase we dont talk like this then come try out bluffspokerclub.com
annie hold your up you are 1 of the best good luck .
Annie is well with in her means to respond to PS. Daniel is wrong, PS should not let him or anyone that is representing them to act and talk this way. they PS should all so take the blame he is one of their’s and they I imagin pay him well.
This is a slap in the face to ALL women. Is Daniel above reproach. I think not, he and PS must be accountable. Do what u must but a public apology is a good start for both PS and Daniel. If anyone in any public form TV,Radio, newspaper, said, that word they would be crucified. Yes,it is a big deal. Yes, it leaves a bad taste in ur mouth for Daniel and PS. When are people going to learn that if they are a public figure than they need to becareful in their choice of words.
The stretch of an athlete making these comments about a reporter are ludicrous. You and Daniel are peers, not player/press. It’s the same as Kobe calling Shaq a name, not Kobe calling Erin Andrews a name.
To your point about Nike, I think witgh the way they handled Tiger’s situation, it’s been answered how they treat their athletes who make them money. Stars is taking the same line.
Hey Annie… ONE question..??? Are you smarter than a 5th grader? Because this nonsense is childish, this “he said she said whatever cuss words pubicly” boo hoo hoo!!! stop whining for attention.. and i’ve never played a 10K event but i’d still whoop you on the felt.. “so called best female player alive” lmfao what a joke
Annie,
I would not pay any attention to any of the garbage people are saying including Daniel. You are a successful woman who makes a living doing what she loves and not many can do the same. I would not waste anymore time or energy on this matter, drama is part of the “spotlight”. Keep doing what your doing and wish you the best..
P.S Always thought you were a MILF! lol jk
Annie, you are clearly trying to make this up into something bigger than it is. This is between you and Daniel, not between the community and Pokerstars. You don’t represent all the women just like Daniel doesn’t represent all the men. I agree that the comment was offensive. It makes him look bad and sadly takes the attention away from the very good point he was making.
Hi Annie:
Before you make mountains out of mole hills, I would like to show you an email I recently found, as in my opinion it seems as though you are exposing a valued PokerStars customer service representative over something which she expressed as her opinion and not the opinion of the PokerStars PR team, even putting her job at risk.
It also looks as though “Katja” is not even a senior member of the customer support group and probably has not been educated on how to deal with these types of issues.
Please read the email below and think about your actions, you are supposed to be a Poker player, someone who thinks tactically and works out the best course of action, do you think the way you are addressing the issue is the best course of action? or do you think perhaps it would be best to damage your reputation by sinking down to Daniel’s level like you are doing now?
Thanks for reading
Pedro Almodovar
Concerned PokerStars player
Hello____
Please be advised that your email has been forwarded to me as the senior
escalation point within PokerStars Support at this time. Upon receipt of
this email, I have reviewed your account details including the previous
email correspondence and associated information.
First off, I would like to apologize given that you are unsatisfied with the
response time required in order to properly address this issue, however
please understand that we do appreciate the concerns you have put forward,
and given the sensitive nature of this issue there has been much work and
discussion going on behind the scenes in order to review and assess this
situation accordingly.
I can confirm that we genuinely accept your complaint/feedback about the
choice of language which Daniel was quoted as using in a recent interview.
Obviously the transcript is there and the comments about Annie Duke are
obvious for the whole world to see, but in the absence of any acknowledgment
or confirmation from Daniel, it is important to remember that this is
therefore what he *allegedly* said.
If we are to assume that Daniel did indeed make these comments, then
absolutely it is perfectly reasonable to expect that many people will be
personally offended as well as completely shell-shocked to read this.
However, the information in your emails requests that PokerStars makes a
public statement in response to these comments to show our support for
female poker players; specifically those who are members of our Team
PokerStars Pro.
However, despite the colorful language that Daniel has (allegedly) chosen to
use on this occasion, in no way shape or form has he made any derogatory
comments about female poker players at all. This was for whatever reason,
specifically directed and aimed at one person, Annie Duke, and should
therefore be accepted for what it is.
In fact, the article also includes a section which Daniel has expressed his
disappointment towards certain male poker players who participated in a very
public protest which was designed to make a mockery of the woman’s only
event at the WSOP. This section includes a number of instances which clearly
indicate Daniel’s support for women in poker and as such, I do not think it
is fair to accuse him of anything else other than being a big support of
women in poker.
Comments such as the one we are referring to in this article can
understandably stir up some fairly passionate feelings within people,
however it remains extremely important to prevent such emotion to distort or
confuse the situation.
There are a few points which I would like to reiterate and summarize in
closing, which from our perspective are the most relevant factors to take
from this whole situation:
- We formally accept and sincerely appreciate your feedback in relation to
the comments quoted on this website. Your feedback and feelings have been
forwarded to both our VIP Marketing area (who are responsible for matters
re: Team PokerStars Pro), and our Poker Room Management team.
- Daniel has been quoted by a third party poker publication using language
which some people may find highly offensive and unacceptable, which was
specifically directed towards one individual person / poker player, who as
many would be aware has shared an ongoing feud with for many years now.
- In the very same article Daniel expresses his disgust towards the select
group of male poker players who made a mockery of the woman’s only event
held recently at the WSOP.
- PokerStars as a business and the world wide leader in online poker is very
supportive of female poker players, and have for a long time now had a large
number of females making up part of our Team PokerStars Pro.
- PokerStars is extremely proud to have very recently launched our very own
Women’s Poker League (online), which has been praised and glorified by many
established and well respected poker publications.
As such, we certainly appreciate and accept the feelings you have put
forward in regards to this matter, that cannot be argued, however, we do not
perceive these comments to have any relation whatsoever to the topic of
*women in poker*.
These particular comments which have appeared in this article are the
personal views of Daniel Negreanu with respect to a very specific matter
involving *one* individual. We are very confident and pleased with the
public’s perception of PokerStars; ranging from the integrity of our games
all the way through to our involvement with charities all over the world,
and assistance we provide to regional communities located in more countries
in the world that I once knew even existed. As a result, a public or
official statement would only create additional publicity for a
personal/private issue for Daniel Negreanu which PokerStars has absolutely
nothing to do with.
Once again I apologize for the delay in responding to you. We will of course
be sorry to lose you as a very valued customer, although we cannot criticize
anyone who is willing to stand up for what they believe in, provided of
course that you are able to find a happy home at another online poker site.
We thank you for playing at PokerStars, and wish you all the very best in
your poker journey ahead.
If there is anything additional that we may be able to assist you with,
please do not hesitate to contact us.
Regards,

Why doesnt Howard just give that little nerd a slap
What a silly and pointless response from Annie. Pokerstars does not own Daniel and it is not their job to tell Daniel what to say or not to say neither will they ever distance hemselves from anything one of their ‘proteges’ writes or says. If they feel not confortable with it they will end the sponsorship nothing more nothing kless, it is as simple as that… Fulltilt will act exactly the same…
As a mother of three, a grandmother of seven, a wife, and a poker player, I want to know: when did it get ok to spew that word (a word women find the most shocking and disrespectful) in a public interview. I always liked and rooted for Daniel Negreanu and never cared much for Annie Duke. The tables have turned.
As a mother, I would be terribly upset if I knew my sons had ever used that word toward a woman. I know his mother would probably feel the same.
His use of that word says a lot about him.
I’m less than surprised to see you didn’t reply to my message, but then i’m certain that as the greatest living female poker player, you have far more pressing engagements to tend to.Hopefully you are at least monitoring the thread devoted to your comments at 2+2,not that any series of threads could possibly dissuade you from your quest to become the most reviled person in poker.
Does anybody else appreciate the fact the Annie Duke is so unlikeable that nobody will support her on such a matter? Here’s the deal Annie- Daniel shouldn’t have used the c word, but you need to get your panties out of a bunch and chill out- you are a self-righteous individual who completely overvalues her own self worth. Your sad look when the Donald “slowrolled” you on the episode of The Apprentice? Very funny
.
Oh and by the way as a professional poker player who is one of the faces of a major poker website whose lead endorser is Phil Hellmuth (clearly the most obnoxious man in poker at the tables), HOW DARE YOU complain that an amateur player wore a vest made of coins at a previous WSOP and this was distracting to you. H is for hypocrisy Annie, maybe next time you’ll do us all a favor and keep your mouth shut.
Oh, and one last thing- just because Daniel was wrong in using that word to describe you, doesn’t nullify the complete validity of his points.
Respectfully, I have read this letter and it makes it worse. The representative makes two points 1) He may not have said it 2) He only said it about Annie and not all women. I refer back to previous comments. He did say it to a reporter and my understanding is that is was on tape in a formal interview setting. The argument that it was only to me again is specious. If he called Ivey the similar epithet about race then would it be okay that he only said it about Ivey and not all black people. I am not equating the two words, btw. Just showing the error in logic. They are saying he may or may not have said it but if he did it is okay because he only said it about Annie. That is pretty offensive, IMO
a) I am not trying to get him fired. b) Are you under the impression that I and many others have not tried talking to him in the past?
I have already read this letter and I find it more offensive than the first. The Stars rep here makes 2 points a) Daniel may not have said it b) It was only about Annie so not offensive to all women. As for the first point, he did say it. He admitted that. He claims it was off the record but my understanding is that it was said in a formal interview setting on tape to a reporter. As for the second point, if he said a word about Ivey that degraded his race would Stars be okay with that because he only said the word about Ivey and not all Black people? In no way am I equating the two words, btw. I am just saying the logic there is wrong. Stars is saying it is okay because he only said it about me as opposed to saying that all women are the c-word. That makes no sense.
Annie
You’re quite right to say that c**t is not an opinion, however Daniel appears to have said that he thinks you’re a f*cking c**t, that most certainly is an opinion and as you so rightly say he is entitled to it whether you agree or not.
As for asking if it’s ok that he calls Ivey the n-word is ridiculous, he hasn’t and it should only be a questioned if he ever does.
You say that c**t is frowned upon by Pokerstars because they block it out in chat, just out of interest how many other words do they not allow the use of? Would you be crying if he called you any one of those many? You’re obviously saying that because Stars block them out they must be deeply offensive, if all of them upsets you you must spend a great deal of your day in tears.
As for running to Stars to get them to take action against Daniel, how old are you?? I think you need to grow up and learn to fight your own battles.
Looks to me like Daniel called a spade a spade.
His remarks were made outside the official interview, and therefore were not meant for public consumption. They were a private opinion.
Obviously an accurate one.
First of all I will start by saying that I have been a great fan of both you and Daniel for many years now. I believe that what Danial said is totally inappropriate and degrading. I live in outback Australia where the word “fuck” is used as every second word in most sentences. However the word “cunt” is still considered by most people I know to be offensive. Now we have all said in moments of anger things that we will later regret. The reason I have lost a lot of respect for Daniel is because as far as I know he is yet to apologize for his publicly posted opinions of Annie Duke. If he were to sincerely express remorse for his words most of the lost respect would return. Although what Daniel said is very insulting I think that the worst part of it is the way that Pokerstars handled the situation. As a Pokerstars Pro and as a Famous person in general he should have a moral and ethical awareness of what he says in public. Pokerstars have been very disappointing to me in similar but less public verbal fights. I won’t get in to it but a player abused a friend and myself by threatening to kidnap my friends children rape her and death threats against us both. After VERY many calls to the moderator to stop this I eventually got my chat privileges revoked for abuse of the “call moderator button”. After a very heated letter to Pokerstars I eventually got my chat back. They said that action will be taken to the player in question but they could not discuss what action. However this player continued to follow and abuse me for a while. I think that the real damage here is not from Daniel’s actions but Pokerstars inaction. So much could be reversed by a simple but sincere appology but no one is yet to give it.
Annie…
You and daniel admittedly don’t like each other. This is nothing new. This is a long standing dislike for each other.
Imagine if every comment you ever made in private regarding daniel were transcripted and put out in public. How many “choice” words have you used about him that people might find offensive ?? There are things that are said about other people off record or in amongst your “friends” that you would never want to be known or repeated publicly. Your brothers situation with Jimmy Fricke in 2007 where he expressed his “opinion” of him when he asked for full tilt sponsorship is a prime example of this. Those comments were said in private but made public and didn’t put howard in too good of light. Did you stick up for all the overweight people of the world and call for something to be done to him ?? No.
I understand publicity good or bad is still good for you but do you really think blowing this situation up to be more then it is will make the poker world turn on daniel based on his hatred directed toward 1 human being ??
Your an intelligent person. I’m sure you can find better things to do with your time other than worrying about what everyone says about you.
Wow, way to blow this all out of proportion. Both of you are mentally stunted adults. You both should find a cave and disappear forever.
However wrong DN may be in his choice of words, the word DN used is not equatable to racial epithets in any way, and to attempt to equate them is a calculated and disingenuous attempt to suggest that DN is a woman-hater and/or racist. Racial epithets necessarily involve all of a particular ethnic group – the implication of them is that the faults of the recipient of the insult stem from their ethnicity. Vernacular words for body parts clearly do not have this association.
You totally equate those two words in your open letter, and in the above post regard PI, and then try to say you are not doing that. The idea that using the word he used to describe a woman makes it somehow worse is pathetic for someone claiming to support gender equality. Would you have preferred it if he had called you a male body part instead? Or would he have then been a man-hater? Shame on you.
Annie, I have never really followed what u say or do on TV or on any forum, before this. It’s hard to get across what you are trying to convey. It seems that the focus (not your focus) is put on the details and not the bigger picture. I completely agree with you. Daniel can say what he wants, he made a very lude statement, probably in the heat of the interview. His poor judgement in his choice of words has gotten many public figures in hotwater plenty of times in the past. Yet somehow you come out being treated like nothing more than a troublemaker. It seems the more you try to defend your position, the more this becomes a popularity contest. You don’t need to repeatly defend yourself when someone else was in the wrong. Let Daniel’s mistake be his own. You can’t force others to see it your way, but if you stop pushing so hard maybe they will see the bigger picture on their own. In the mean time good luck to you and hold your head high.
I have some facts here for you people.
FACT 1: If you act like a little *** you will be called a little ***
FACT 2: If the offence was to all the women how come you are the ONLY one complaining like a little you know what.
FACT 3: You speak much of logic but you don’t apply any, since there is 0 logic to make any racial point here.
FACT 4: For some reason you have assosiated Ivey and his race here, which I would take as an offence to the black people and if I were a black Annie Duke, I would have probably allready written a letter of complaint to the president and try and get you fired.
FACT 5: No matter what gender or colour you are, if you make absurd statements like being the best female player in the world someone might not like that and call you names.
FACT 6: Men, women, black, red, green, yellow and white ( I hope I didn’t forget any colour ) people are always going to call each other names and we all should deal with such offence by not envolving the whole F*****G world into it.
What a dishonorable act of Daniel’s. As a man, I would feel obligated to put a beat down on him if I witnessed such a disgraceful act speaking to a female in a public situation. And if it’s true about some men using tampons at their tables to denigrate women, then they need the beat down they never got as arrogant teens. Where are the men in the poker community, never mind the Gentlemen? Such a loss of honor clearly leaves me against Daniel after being a big fan for years. Where are your balls Howard? I’d rip that little nit into.
You are so sick Annie… get a grip
All of you people who are defending Daniel on this issue, I have one question for you. Are you ok with anyone using the same term directed towards your mother, your wife, or your daughter????
i like Daniel, and Annie, but Daniel was clearly out of line.
Well Annie, if you only knew what goes on inside Poker Stars you wouldn’t be all that surprised by their response and outright condoning this language because abuse from what I hear seems to be second nature to “stars”. I’m a Canadian and a big Negreanu fan but he and Stars comment is wrong wrong wrong. Look what happened to Marge Schott – (her nasty comment about outfielders Eric Davis and Dave Parker)
I fail to see much difference here.
Fine annie Daniel is wrong blah blah blah.
but for all of ur being anti womens poker leagues, anti womens event in the wsop.
lets see if you actually answer the question as to why your website proclaims you as the best female poker player in the world and you don’t even play against your fellow women to prove it.
much like you could, i could easily name a dozen women who are far better then you are.
Hmmmm… Annie Duke scolds PokerStars for not distancing themselves from Daniel Negreanu’s comments. Pot. Kettle. Black.
Maybe Annie should look at the reputaion of her sponser and “distancing” themselves from certain controversies.
Although a big fans of Daniels I understand that he’s way out of line speaking about a woman the way he did, but.. you say some utter rubbish.
Your point about the Woman’s event at the WSOP is pathetic.
On his blog he makes the point that you’re all for women and their rights then as he rightly says you have the blind arrogance to have ‘THE BEST FEMALE POKER PLAYER IN THE WORLD’ sprawled all over your website. When and who gave you that title? or was it yourself? You want to back up the ‘thoughts’ of women, yet you put yourself at a level above them because you lucked your way through a Heads up Championship? Oh please.
If you’re going to publicly bring something out there for poker fans to read and comment upon paint all sides of the story first.
Have a bit of pride.
annie, sweetheart with all do respect. you are a grown ass woman. so some lil boy called you a name that you dont like. i’ll be willing to bet the deed to my house that you have called a “man” an asshole. (or something to that effect.) well thats the same thing darling! and good for pokerstars not caring what the guy has to say about his opinion. he was not speaking on behalf of pokerstars. so it should affect his relationship with pokerstars. i am truely sorry that you were embaressed by daniel during the interview, but that;s life sweetheart.
I am amazed and shocked at the language that Daniel used. Even more shocking is the easy acceptance by the males on this response site. I used to like Daniel, I thought he was a man. I guess him and many posters on here are still little boys who don’t understand the nature of words.
I greatly admire Annie Duke. She is one of the best Female poker players and she does so much for charity.
Daniel, go back to kindergarten and learn how to play nice.
Annie, you go girl! May the force be with you.
First of all DN always acts like the 5 year old kid running around the dinner table screaming at a fancy restaurant to get attention. He clearly didn’t get enough attention growing up which is why he still has the table manners of someone wearing diapers. I have personally me Annie and her brother Howard. Annie was nothing but nice… Where as you brother is the only big name poker player that acts as if he is above all others… maybe it’s just his personality and he can’t help it. All that being said this whole thing is being made into a big deal that shouldn’t be!!! Words are only words. The big thing to do is just ignore it and move on! Everyone that has posted on here has called someone a bitch, asshole, fucker, cunt, or fill in the blank as some point in time in there life. It’s all the same. So everyone get over it. I reffer to my Grandma as the cunt because she is one and anyone who would meet her would agree. She came to my Dads funeral to talk shit about him to me! So DN thinks you one who cares!!! People don’t like other people… It’s why we have armies, wars and murders. We are not perfect by nature…. So everyone go on with your life and play poker just like you where before this happened. Annie and DN can go on both acting like children if they like they don’t need us to help them. So moral of the story… WATCH YOUR OWN BOBBER!
When I get called a Pri*k as often happens, I never think it is aimed at all men.
Annie Duke: RIGHT, Daniel Negreanu WRONG. It seems to me that for YEARS AND YEARS now DN has been bashing Annie as often and as publicly as possible: NO CLASS! Now finally Annie has had enough and tries to address his childish and vicious behaviour and what happens; SHE gets abused in comments here and elswhere! Bullshit! But I’m not suprised since the poker world is now full of young, ignorant, misogynistic punks.
Some one here said it best. For all the Daniel defenders out there, if he had directed it towards your mother, sister, wife, daughter etc how would you feel now?
Granted I have been called damn near everything under the sun, but never let the clowns get me down.
annie all i can say is: GET OFF YOUR HIGH HORSE LADY (I DONT NEED A RIDE TONITE)
If you want to talk about bad decisions maybe you shouldn’t have helped create ieLogic, AKA Ultimate Bet. That site has hurt a lot of people and I haven’t seen you apologize to the community that supports you in many ways. Daniel offended one person but you’re intimately involved w/ an extremely unethical company that hurts thousands.
My opinion regarding you personally. Annie, every time the poker community (men and women) sees you on TV you have this smug elitist look on your face like you’re above everyone. We catch glances of you rolling your eyes or quietly shaking your head at some person, player or dealer. You act as though you’re better than where you are when at a poker table, and the people around you should be honored to be in your presence. What is everyone doing to annoy you so? Are you not payed enough attention? Are you that much more of a person than everyone else? Now this year and all of this childish bickering… come on!! You chose poker, poker didn’t chose you. Therefore poker nor it’s community owe you anything. If you don’t like an opinion from a player, pro or not, then own up and confront the person. Daniel used a disgraceful word that plenty of people use everyday. Your personality and attitude obviously are any easy button to push w/ him and he vomited a word in a situation he shouldn’t have, but in the end it’s only his OPINION! I’m sure there have been many times when in the heat of the moment you used as strong a word, but luckily you weren’t caught, and it was your opinion. Why do you need to run to some authority figure and be a tattle tale? You are just like the rest of us, not perfect and different, not better than us. Get over yourself.
Maybe Daniel didnt choose the best word, but JEEEEZZZZ woman, RELAX!!!. Get of your high horse, people get this word directed at them everyday. Its not like he threatened to kill you. I bet you were a right **** at school.
kondor said it well in post 40, I was about to make the same point using “d*%k.”
A person who calls a woman a c*%t is almost never saying “She is a piece of s*%t BECAUSE she is a woman,” but “She is a piece of s%*t AND she is a woman.” “D*%k” and “c*%t are gender specific. Perhaps though, some misogynists are still around oppressing women, but hey, soon woman will be allowed to vote! Wait, that happened 90 years ago? In that case, I think the most apropo ending to my point is to Annie. Stop getting your panties in a bunch!
its very bad that a team pokerstars pro has said this offensive talk annie is right to go to pokerstars about this he reps pokerstars he is the face ov pokerstars and they want to be assocated with people that talk like this in a public interveiw wether he hates annie or not you cant do stuff like this annie was right in her actions bad for the game bad for pokerstars all round for someone ov daniels stature and such a highley paid poker pro shuld just go over his head hes got everything he dosent need to talk so horribley about another human being
I think you have misunderstood the Stars rep, he was saying it is ‘alleged’, meaning it is off the record. Have you never, in your hatred for DN called him a prick or a dick in private? Are you now a male hater like he is a womaniser? Everyone has negative personal viewpoints of someone the word they use to bash them doesn’t constitute a intolerance for wider groups.
The second point where they responded that it was about you and not all woman is perfectly reasonable, hes perfectly reasonable to have a negative viewpoint about you, just as you are about him? n****r and cunt are completely different words, n****r is a word designed to be used in a way to insult a whole class of people unlike c*nt, so your logic is off. Your trying to say hes insulting all woman because c*nt is gender specific? No.
By reading through this blog, watching your T.V performance and seeing the banners sprawled around
naming you the so called ‘best woman poker player’
i can see where DN got the heart to call you such a strong word, put some thought into the way you act in public and realize as a celebrity every comment you make will be scrutinized..
The world doesn’t revolve around you, and there will be no apology or remorse from DN or Stars, grow up and fight your own battles instead of telling Stars and expecting a apology, they dont care. Your immaturity and arrogance has further been expressed by these ridiculous posts and poor arguments drawing from analogy,
Regards
Annie
Hey Annie.
First of all, Daniel is not owned by Pokerstars. He can call anyone whatever he wants. Second of all, the C-word is not demeaning to all women. IT’S JUST A WORD! I don’t care if it’s in an interview or in private, Daniel has every right to express his opinions, especially if it is in regards to something he is very passionate about. I have so much respect for Daniel AND Pokerstars now that that interview has been released, and am a little disappointed that Pokerstars even responded to you at all. They shouldn’t have to “acknowledge” what happened or apologize for anything.
Another thing I wanted to bring up: STOP COMPARING THE C-WORD TO THE N-WORD!!! They are not the same thing, and it offends me greatly that you even dare to draw that comparison.
Now, all that being said, I don’t mean to be impolite here. It’s just that, as a woman, I get offended when you think you are speaking on behalf of our sex, when really, you are completely delusional. Stop trying to be a hero, and play some poker. How about getting excited when you make a final table, or getting disappointed when you lose? It used to be so fun to watch you play, because you really are a genius poker player. But now you’re just buzz kill.
Excuse me for my language. Annie, after reading through the comments it seems as though you have the support of the female bloggers. It seems some sexually frustated males are thinking D. N. did nothing wrong. The impression from their comments is they is they enjoy demeaning women and masterbate about it. They probably grew up calling their mothers and grandmothers c**ts. Obviously they learned it from their fathers afterall only a c**t would raise a son to think it is appropiate to call a woman a c**t. Maybe if they can get a c**t drunk enough to have a child maybe they can have a c**t of their own or better yet they can raise a son who thinks such demeaning language is ok and they son can carry on such a proud tradition.
Real men don’t have to call women hate names. You have done well for yourself and made your point perfectly. Only problem is that you are a public figure so all the jealous little punks want to make a deal out of your perfectly legit point. Maybe my comments here will take some pressure off of you and they will focus on me. Come on all you little foul-mouth punks. Where are your responses to my comment. Speak up so we know who the punks are who like to call women names.
Sincerely,
Midniterider
