For that reason, I believe it’s good to do what world poker champion Annie Duke calls a “premortem”: a detailed plan for what a failure would look like. Rather than mapping out a success, premortems map out a failure. Doing this, Duke posits, helps you develop better strategies for success, which you can then apply to your plans.
Go back over the past few years and consider where things fell flat. How were mistakes made? What were the circumstances surrounding them? How did unforeseen events impact your business, and do you have any blindspots that surface around these?
